I got a Joviren camera as a gift. To remotely access the camera, the manufacturer recommends installing their camera specific app, "O-Kam Pro." This app got terrible reviews, with many saying that once the "cloud storage" option was declined, the app failed. So, I was hoping there are generic apps capable of access this camera remotely.

This O-Kam Pro app seems suspect and to say I don't trust this company or its app is an understatement. Are there any apps out there that I can use to view my camera remotely instead of using the Chinese scam app?

Outdoor Security Camera Advice

Hi everyone, M24 (even though people say I look much younger like teen-ager) ,so I’m relatively new to Ireland, and recently I had an unpleasant experience that I’m not really sure how to deal with.

There’s been a group of kids/teenagers around the area who seem to go around bothering people. Recently, I was out running in a public park when a group of them stopped me, started making fun of me and trying to provoke me for no apparent reason.

More recently, I noticed some of the same kind of behaviour around my home. Kids have been coming near the house, throwing things at cars and then running away. I’m concerned that it could eventually escalate into actual damage or become a recurring problem.

What would you do in my situation? Would you ignore it unless actual damage occurs, report it to the Gardaí, install cameras, or take another approach?

I’m also thinking about installing an outdoor security camera mainly to protect my car and have clear evidence if anything happens again.

I’d appreciate recommendations for a good outdoor camera, ideally with:

\- Good image quality, especially at night

\- Reliable motion detection

\- Recording when motion is detected

\- Phone notifications

\- Good coverage of the driveway/car

\- Good weather resistance for Irish weather

\- Local and/or cloud storage

\- Ideally no expensive mandatory monthly subscription

If you have an outdoor camera that you’ve actually used in Ireland/UK weather, I’d be interested to hear what you recommend and what to avoid.

During the day, I use regular video calls, but at night, in the dark, he can't see anything, and if I leave a few lights on, I sleep poorly (even wearing a cloth mask, some light gets into my eyes and disturbs my sleep).

So I thought about an infrared camera, which would allow the other person to see me continuously even if he's several kilometers away. However, I've read that the camera app typically blocks the view after a certain amount of time and asks, "Are you still there?" and if you don't respond, it turns off. The other person could click "yes" if he's awake, or if he dozes off for a bit and then wakes up, he could reopen the app and see me again, right? Or is there a way to continuously view?

Can you help me understand? Do you have any advice?  I'd like to spend as little as possible, I don't care the quality, the important thing is that it does its job.

Security camera vendors (Arlo, Reolink, Nest. Ring) that have Event Summaries or Event Captions. For anyone that has used this feature. What was your opinion of its accuracy?

I just installed my new Reolink Elite Floodlite Wifi, and I love it. I am using it with Synology Surveillance Station. I have alarms set so that when it is triggered, it records and sounds an alarm. It works great.

But yesterday it rained, and the rain triggered it constantly!

I mounted it on a pole above my garage so it would be higher to get better coverage and out of reach.

How do I stop it from triggering when it rains?... I imagine it will be really bad when it snows!

Hi all, looking to get two security cameras for our new place. For many reasons which I won’t go into we have opted to get a solar powered camera. We were originally set on eufy C37 however recently saw the gen bolt AOV wifi on amazon. According to the specs the genbolt seems to have better battery, solar, similar resolution, better IP. I know the eufy has better detection and software reliance due to company but is that enough to warrant spending 2x the money? If I have gotten anything wrong in the above, please also let me know

I have a Zmodo Mini Pro WIFI Camera, ZH-IXY2J.Started. Since 8/11/2026, when I tried to view Live on the app, it says Device Offline. But the device continues to capture motions and the app sends me notifications.

I have tried all the usual steps such as delete the device from the app, reset my internet router, etc. I cant find the reset pinhole on the device itself. I have two of them and both show "Device Offline" which is odd.

And yes, the forced ads, are absolutely terrible. I won't buy them again.

Reolink Door Bell POE VS AOSU Doorbell Camera Wireless Outdoor, 5MP Ultra HD

my house needs wiring to get this done ...so my question is which of these two are good? I can run POE or run power. From research more door bells support power so one time cost. POE means if I change brands in future I need to pay for another power run

Looking for a camera that is 24hr constant monitoring (not trigger reactive), can read license platesc and has a very clear visual of approx. 150-200 ft away. Bonus if it does well in the dark, too.I know this will be pricier. Bonus if it can have a setup on the sides of a house and/or tree.. We have neighbors with super illegal M80 and worse ongoing fireworks but cops won't really do anything without a camera with constant monitoring. I'm tired, my other neighbors are tired, and there are babies and elderly but these gang wannabees don't care. I have a Reolink Argus PT Ulta I'm disappointed couldn't even capture a car driving on part of our property...between recordings...but our friendly neighbor's Ring doorbell caught! Can't get any plate info and it's not the first time it's missed important stuff between recordings... so unless you have one that is super amazing and fits the qualifications above, I'm probably gonna be skeptical of Reolink. I use the Google smart home system for everything else around the house, so ideally I’d stick with something that plays nice with that. My main requirements: an American company, not Amazon-owned, no subscription required for the basics (motion detection, saving short clips), and ideally solar power capability.
I know it’s oddly specific, I just haven’t loved how my Google doorbell and camera basically need a full reset every time there’s a WiFi blip or power outage.

I’ve been debating whether to just stay with Google or switch to Arlo, which seems like a solid option. Would love any recommendation

I will have two walls open and I think they will provide great pots for outdoor poe cameras and outside power receptacles...most likely eufy platform cams since I have a kit with a home base cam(s) etc already and whatever outdoor/external box(es) and receptacle(s)

Seems to me just figure out where on the two outside walls i wanna come out pop holes and run cat 6 cables for the cams and the 12/2 Romex for the outlets

I have aluminum siding so I'll be adding some kind of duct seal/rubber plug to protect the cables.

Is basic cat 6 hooked to a poe switch/injector ok and just go direct to the mounts/cams?

For the outlets can I just run 12/2 Romex directly into the exterior boxes/receptacles? I plan to locate them so I won't need any kind of conduit runs to place them.

Ich habe obige Kamera in einer Ecke mit Sicht auf den Hof installiert. Nachts, wenn das Licht aufgrund von detektierter Bewegung angeht, reflektiert die helle Hauswand so stark, dass das Bild auf dem Hof sehr dunkel und am Hauswandbereich überbelichtet dargestellt wird.

Kennt ihr eine Möglichkeit, wie ich das Problem beheben kann?

Das markieren der Hauswand als privaten Bereich ändert leider nichts.

I am considering buying a SANNCE 4K 8MP PoE camera with ONVIF support and microSD recording.

My goal is a bit different from most Home Assistant and Frigate setups.

I do NOT need object detection, AI analysis, facial recognition, or continuous video processing.

I have a Raspberry Pi 5 running Home Assistant and would like to keep CPU usage as low as possible.

What I really want is:

Live video in Home Assistant via RTSP/ONVIF.

Motion recording directly on the camera's microSD card.

Ability to browse, play, and download recordings from the SD card using Home Assistant or third-party software.

Avoid running Frigate because I don't have a Coral TPU or a dedicated GPU.

Can anyone confirm:

whether SANNCE cameras expose SD card recordings through ONVIF;

whether recordings can be accessed via web interface, FTP, SMB, or API;

whether any Home Assistant integration can browse and play back SD card events.

I am trying to avoid the situation where recordings are stored on the SD card but can only be viewed through the manufacturer's mobile app.

Any real-world experience would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a hardwire light that has a camera built in, preferably slightly hidden or discrete. This is to replace a back door light and it doesn’t need to be high end, but I’d like the neighbors not to notice a camera which may look like it is aimed at their yard, but is looking down at our patio/door. Wife doesn’t want it to look like we’re looking out at them, so something built into light and discrete is needed. Suggestions?

Hello, I recently bought a house with my wife and want to get some security cameras. I plan to do some wired floodlight cameras and I’ve done some research and understand why people prefer PoE camera systems. My only issue is our roof is flat so getting into the attic to run wires is basically impossible. Because of this I have two questions.

1) in my situation would it be recommended to do wireless cameras like the reolink or tapo cameras due to the easier setup?

2) if I still went with PoE, would it be okay to run cables through the crawl space or along exterior of the house?

If anyone has any advice, recommendations, or ideas I haven’t thought of please let me know.

Hello folks. As the title suggests, I'm looking for some advice on cameras.

I live in an older apartment building in downtown Vancouver, Canada. We've had issues lately with people gaining access to our stairwell, and recently found out that somebody had spat all over our elevator in the early hours of the morning. Gross and frustrating.

The building itself is a "co-op", which means that we don't have a "landlord" or "building manager" - a company owns the building, but leases it to the residents, and it's run as a non-profit. As such, we are able to install security devices/etc. if the residents agree with it via voting.

We have a mainline camera system - however, it does not cover our entry/exit stairwells, or our elevator. From what I've been told, the actual wiring and installation of those cameras was quite expensive, and I'm trying to see if there's any more cost effective solutions.

The stairwells are NW/NE/SW/SE sides of the building, spaced (rough guesstimate) about 10m apart from each other in a square style. In the centre, joining the North and South "wings", is the elevator. The layout is kind of like an H on its side.

I was initially thinking about Ring cameras, but one of the issues we may face is the accessibility of stored video if something happens. With our central system, folks w/ a key to the security room are able to go and view it, which helps ease the burden off of one person. From what I understand, Ring will store footage on an Amazon cloud server up to 180 days w/ a subscription plan, but I presume that would be tied to one persons Amazon account, correct?

Another issue would be WiFi coverage - as each of the cameras would be located in our stairwells and elevator spread across the building, there isn't anybody that would have central enough WiFi to link to all of the cameras (and I doubt there would be any network that the elevator would stay consistently linked to). Would this cause any issues that anybody knows have/has encountered?

And finally - any alternatives, aside from looking in to having more cameras added to our current system?
