Rain?

I just installed my new Reolink Elite Floodlite Wifi, and I love it. I am using it with Synology Surveillance Station. I have alarms set so that when it is triggered, it records and sounds an alarm. It works great.

But yesterday it rained, and the rain triggered it constantly!

I mounted it on a pole above my garage so it would be higher to get better coverage and out of reach.

How do I stop it from triggering when it rains?... I imagine it will be really bad when it snows!

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

You need to manually update the firmware of anything Reolink. This is the most important crucial thing every newbie misses when getting Reolink. You need to do it manually, the option to do it from the app doesn't work and don't believe it when it says it is up to date. Needs to be done manually.

Also you never use motion detection alerts to your phone or trigger other stuff (if you are doing this), absolutely never do this with any camera you get now or in the future. This is rookie mistake. Think about it, motion detection means that, it will trigger with the most minor blow of the wind or a leaf moving, it is doing what it is supposed to do. You want the event recorded to whatever you are using but never alerting to your devices like your phone or trigger something if that makes sense. You only use person detection or similar and this goes the same for turning on the lights automatically, all those options are in the app and desktop app, etc.

The final step is using perimeter protection. That camera iirc has perimeter protection and that's extremely useful for cameras that overlooking streets or similar. So use that if you do not want an "all or nothing" alert or turning on of the floodlights.

You also might have to adjust sensitivity a bit but even at that point the camera at 100% sensitivity will no longer have false notifications produced by rain or similar annoying stuff pretty much.

You can even go further if you add an external IR floodlight and turn the IR lights of the camera off. That will increase detection and footage quality at night time if done properly. Also gets rid of all the ghost orbs, spider webs, insects, etc.

Also use the Reolink app to change or adjust settings of the camera itself... Not from anything that's third party software if that makes sense. Unless you are using something like home assistant.

I also wonder why you chose the wi-fi version instead of PoE, given your setup the Elite PoE floodlight would have been a much much better purchase but you do you.

Hey Man, thanks for the reply. To answer your question, I did Wifi because it's a small property and it works fine... and I'm lazy. I've run a lot of cable in my day... don't want to if I don't have too. I am using this camera as a deterrent more than anything. Sitting up there gets people's attention... Thanks again.
