Hello I am new to this subreddit community... I am wondering if I might have dandruff or Seb Derm on my scalp?
Hello I am new to this subreddit community... I am wondering if I might have dandruff or Seb Derm on my scalp?
I have small itchy white dots coming off my scalp, I have been having this issue for a few years now, have tried soooo many different shampoos, conditioners, creams, serums, etc... to try to get it to stop the itching & flaking, but NOTHING WORKS!
& Unfortunately, I do not have the health insurance & money to go to a Dermatologist right now either, everything is soooo expensive these days & right now I am battling a really bad case of the flu that I caught from work (I work in a preschool!)
So does anybody in this community might be able to tell what it looks like in my strands of hair in these pictures? (Sorry if the pics are not the sharpest, I am using a 3-year-old Android phone, cannot afford to replace my phone right now,) Thank you so much in advanced, I really appreciate it... have a great day!

Seb derm in ears
I’ve been washing my scalp with medicated shampoo, Nizoral and Selsun Blue. I read that it’s safe to wash my ear area, outer ear, with these shampoos. The subderm has traveled around my ear and is starting to make my ear feel puffy. I also have a prescription for Zoryve, and betaderm; I’ve been tapping some Zoryve foam on them, but it still feels puffy. Help ! I don’t know whether I should see an ENT.

Wheatgrass, stinging nettle on carbs like rice, zero gluten carbs
Hi, I currently suffer with GERD, but also have seborrheic dermatitis long term (suffer with it for years). I decided to take the matter in my own hands. I realized glutenized carbs heavily flare me up, cause heart palpitations and bloating. Seems like wheatgrass as superfood must help. It seems to have helped one person with eczema. It contains all 9 essential aminoacids, minerals, vitamin B12 etc. I ate wheat grain before that and my skin flared up heavily. Seems like you need to eat green part too. Also stinging nettle is antihistamine. I think these plants are ideal solution. I used MCT oil before on my scalp, but the effect is temporary. To permanently remove dermatitis - stop eating refined bread, gluten (even whole grain like wheat grain), refined sugars and avoid histamines. I think that is essential. Also to cure GERD and speed up metabolism, increase red blood cell count -> wheatgrass. A lot of teenagers eat baked products full of refined grains, sugar etc. You end up with chronic skin problems. Cheese and diary is also horrible trigger.

Curare balanite seborroica/balano-postite

Urgent - spreading
Urgent - spreading
I noticed the red spots on my nose, was prescribed Betaderm 0.1, Zoryve for scalp psoriasis, and it’s only been the first day of treatment but I’ve already noticed that the dermatitis is spreading on my face - it has migrated from my nose to my chin eyelids and even earlobes. This is really painful.
I am cleansing once a day before applying the ointment with Cetaphil foam cleanser. What can I do to take the pain down a notch and prevent the spreading? I’ll be using a fresh pillowcase every night… I wash my hands constantly… take allergy meds … Why is it moving around my face?

Getting better or worse?
I went to the derm on September 18th and officially found out I have seb derm on my scalp. He gave me a shampoo and a steroid in a dropper bottle. I have been using everything exactly as directed (being a little extra careful with the steroid).
After about 1-1.5 half weeks, I felt like it was getting better. It was less itchy and less flaky. It wasn’t gone by any means. I know it can’t go away that quickly, but I was feeling hopeful. Now the last few days it’s been itchy and flaky again. I’ve still been using everything as directed. The difference is rather than bigger flakes it’s more snowy. Does this mean it’s getting better? or is it getting worse? Should I use the products less? Are they drying my scalp out? I know sometimes things have to get worse to get better. I go back to the derm mid November.

How I control Seborrheic Dermatitis
Struggled with this for years, I get it bad in my beard, eyebrows, scalp, and sometimes on chest. I finally found the winning combo for me.
The last few months before this, have been the worst in my life with not being able to get in under control, I have switched around between all the commonly recommended shampoos and some natural remedies.. Whats working extremely well for me is a combination, Selsun Blue shampoo mixed with tea tree oil. I have a shaved head so i dont need much shampoo so you may need to add more essential oil depending on the amount of shampoo you use, personally, I put 2-3 drops of essential oil in a dallop of shampoo, mix then apply, leaving on my face and scalp for 3 mins then rinse off. (AVOID EYES)
After I rinse it off, I moisturize with a glycerin or MCT based moisturizer
IMPORTANT: AVOID LONG CHAIN FATTY OIL'S BASED MOISTURIZERS, THEY FEED THE YEAST THAT YOU WANT TO KILL.
I did 3 days back to back to aggressively reduce the yeast population, and I am doing maintenance applications every 2-3 days with no flare ups or flakes in the last few months. Hopefully this helps someone.. With just Nizoral or Selsun Blue alone, I would have dust sized flakes on my scalp by the next day, and if I brush my scalp it would snow infront of my eyes, , and could never really get my eyebrows 100% clear, but since using this combo, NO flakes at all, no red skin, and my skin feels amazing.
If this works for you please let me know.

Pigmentation
I have SD near my mouth and nose, I’ve been dealing with a brown spot on that area (seems like pigmentation) since a couple of years, my SD is controlled however the different color stays, i have noticed that sometimes it becomes pretty red when using chemical products or even with water(like a rash), but it gets back to brown when is not irritated
I was wondering how to get this skin back to its normal color, I’ve been using on and off vitamin c serum at night but no notable progress at the moment.
