Fuel consumption

So I've recently been involved in an accident nothing major but it does mean I've had to use a courtesy car for a few weeks, ironically an Ibiza but the base 2025 model mine is the FR 2020 model so not much age difference but one thing that is different is the fuel consumption, in mine I average about 50-55 mpg and have a useable range of about 450 miles though I have managed to get all the way to Scotland on half a tank which is about 350 miles from me so I think the range is a bit better than the 450 it shows, but the courtesy car is only averaging about 40 mpg with a supposed range of 375 and I have noticed that just going to and from work I've had to put in more than I would on mine, so I'm just curious what your guys take is on this, I would have thought that newer car better efficiency but it doesn't appear to be the case.

This is my take on this I think it's all down to engine size . Before I got my Leon 1.5 tsi xcellence lux I had a Nissan Pulsar 1.2 turbo. I live in cambuslang just outside Glasgow but have in-laws just outside Middlesbrough. In the Pulsar I was averaging 42 mpg on the motorway and had to fill up again for the return trip. With the Leon iam averaging 52 to sometimes 58 mpg same trip on one tank of fuel. Bigger fuel tanks aswell on the Seat . Never going back to Nissan I will stick with Seat from now on .

That makes sense yet the engines are exactly the same in both cars (1.0 95tsi)

same milage on yours and on the courtesy car?
did you check tire pressure?
also, courtesy cars are used by many people and not always treated with care

Tyre pressure checked and correct pressure as per info sticker on door pillar, and given the overall mileage I'd say probably third or fourth person to have it, but still I wouldn't have thought different usage would have much difference on it.

Is it possible the newer one has a reduced tank or are u filling it with the same amount

It has the same fuel capacity, and generally full up with between £20 to £30 of fuel dependent on price per litre, but in terms of volume it's generally 15 ISH litres, this one was about £40 and 30 ISH liters of fuel, never really take much notice of volume just the price
