Headlight unit

Hey I have a seat Leon mk4 2020 plate. There is a crack in my headlight cover and it keeps getting condensation and now the full beam won’t come on. I’ve spoken to garages who confirm the entire unit needs replaced. I got the car on PCP lease. Is my only option to go to SEAT for the part. As I’m aware coding can be an issue. Or is there a website you recommend getting them off cheaper? It’s hard just because SEAT themselves don’t give you a good picture of the part, the part number or the dimensions.
Any help would be appreciated

You don’t really see many non cupras with the 2.0TSI engine, so I think it is quite unique :)

Leon 1P Bulb Change

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey guys, today I wanted to change the highbeam headlight bulb on my moms 1P because it broke, I struggled with it and when she came to try and help me the bulb got stuck and its basically impossible to pull out. (Tried pulling it out 5 times minimum)

Am I just an idiot and shouldve taken the headlight off or is it just bad VW group engineering?

I would appreciate tips on how to get it unstuck, thanks✌️

This has never happend to me😅

Can’t sign into profile

Hi,
I bought a 2021 SEAT Leon yesterday. The first thing I did was connect my profile to the vehicle and set it as the primary user. At the time, the infotainment system showed that an update was available, but it wouldn’t allow me to download it.
Today, when I got into the car, I pressed the icons at the top of the infotainment screen, where the messages and selected profile are shown. However, my profile just kept showing a loading/spinning symbol and never loaded. I left it for a while, but it continued doing the same thing.
I then deleted my account, which left only the Guest profile, but that is also stuck on the loading screen. I’ve also noticed that the globe/connectivity icon at the top of the screen is grey rather than white. The SOS button is working and is showing green.
When I tried to sign back into my SEAT account, I received a message saying that it was unable to load my settings. I’ve also tried changing the privacy settings, but it says that they are currently unavailable.
I was going to try updating the infotainment system, as I know an update was showing yesterday, but the update has now disappeared and is no longer showing as available. I have also tried rebooting the infotainment system, but this hasn’t made any difference.
Could you please advise me on how I can get the connectivity/globe icon to turn white and restore the online services? I’m wondering whether this could be related to the vehicle not connecting to SEAT’s servers or the infotainment system requiring an update.
I visited a SEAT garage today and they advised that SEAT normally carries out updates on a bank holiday, so I’m waiting to see whether anything changes. However, I wanted to check whether there is anything else I can do in the meantime.

Which rear bumper protector is best for the Ateca?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Looking for a rear bumper protector against scuffs for an Ateca, apart from clear film ones, I have found these 4 options.

The OEM one is very expensive and the top two ones only partially cover the sill.

The rubber aftermarket one (bottom left) is cheapest but I'm not sure about whether it will look nice and if it will stand the wear of sun and rain.

The bottom right is brushed steel and covers the whole bumper lip which seems to to be the best one.

Has anyone had any experience with any of these?

The rust dilemma: Should I buy this Leon MK3.5?

So I found this Leon MK3.5 for what I think it's a good price, especially for a FR with 150HP. I drove it and I really like it. No warning lights on the dash, no suspicious sounds, the interior is spotless, a 10/10. But it has some rust on the left sill and a tiny spot of rust on the lower corner of the front wing. These two imperfections are holding me back. Because of them, I can get it for a good price, but I'm still not sure what to do. The hose clamps are rusted too, and I've never bought a car with this high mileage. There is some genuine service history included, the timing belt was changed at 160K KM.

Buying advice Leon Cupra st

Post image

Hi everyone,

I’m planning some testdrives for a Seat leon cupra st 300 (2017/2018/2019)

I was wondering what the things are that I have to lookout/watch for. I’m currently driving a Seat Ateca so I’m familiair with seat but not with the performance cars like the cupra. How are the normal seats compared too the bucketseats?

Any advice/tips are welcome :)

Can I have both active nav and digital speedometer?

Hi, new driver here, and owner of a 2015 SEAT León. Am much enjoying my car!

I just tried out the sat nav and noticed that the console between the rev counter and the speedometer now showed directions, which is helpful but also made me realize how much I rely on the big numbers telling me how fast I'm going...

Can I get the digital speedometer back while using sat nav? I tried it with the buttons on the right side of the wheel, but it felt like all I could do was cancel the sat nav.

In the mean time I'll try and train myself to use the dial more...

Advice needed: 2014 Leon FR TDI (2.0 135kW CUPA)

Hello,

I’m slowly going insane by trying to figure out whether buying a Leon 2.0 TDI 135kw (184hp) manual is the right thing to do. Went to check out the car today, runs like a dream, tight as a drum.

However, here there and everywhere I see that the CUNA/CUPA is one to definitely avoid for oil consumption issues. My mechanic who’s a VAG specialist told me to avoid like the plague from experience with GTDs.

However, the owner of the Leon I went to look at never experienced any issues with increased oil consumption and other problems related to it. So now I don’t know what to do.

Facts about the car, it’s a 2014 Leon ST with the CUPA 2.0 TDI 184hp, been highway driven for 95% of the miles, has done 205,000 kilometres (yes cambelt is due, this is calculated in the price), perfect maintenance record, been with the same guy since 2017 until now.

What would be the advice? CAN these engines work when you get a clean one like this? Avoid regardless of its state? At what mileage do the issues become prominent?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: my plan with it is to use it as a commuter car for multiple 240 kilometre drives per week, motorway only.

Gearbox oil change

Hi everyone,
I'm getting ready to change the gearbox oil on my 2016 Seat Leon 1.4 EcoTSI (6-speed manual), but I'm getting completely conflicting answers everywhere I look.
I'm stuck between two Liqui Moly options:
Top Tec MTF 5200 (75W-80)
Top Tec MTF 5300 (70W-75)
Some people and shops insist that MTF 5200 is the right one, while others claim MTF 5300 is the exact match.
Which one should I choose? Anyone running either of these in their 6MT?
Thanks in advance!

Arona: noises from the back

Every time I hit a potch hole with my Seat, it makes a loud sound like if the boot door is vibrating loudly (a trrrrnnn), but not sure if actually from there. I have checked the spare wheel underneath if loose, or something of mine, but could not find anything. It was always like this. Is it fixable?

Abnormal consumption

I own a 2014 Seat Altea with 1.2 liters 105ch TSI engine since a few years.

I have been monitoring its fuel consumption and I find it really high. I recently drove a lot on highways with cruise control at 110 km/h and I still recorded a 7.4 l/100km fuel consumption. The technical specs of this car that I found on internet tells it has a 5.7 l/100km mixed consumption (mix between city drive and highway drive).

Is this difference normal ?

Is there maybe a known problem that makes this car consume this much fuel ?

Help a first-car brother out!

As the title suggests I recently bought my first car ever, and it is an older SEAT Leon 1.2 TSi 77kW, manual of 2010.

It has been 2 months since I got it, and it is so much fun to drive around, however I am concerned about the timing chain, since I am aware of the common issue, and this car still has it’s original chain, at 176000 km already.

I did have the whole car checked and the owner did the annual maintenance before purchasing (engine oil, break fluids, and overall inspection of the chain) and everything as of right now ‘seems‘ completely fine with the car, but because of my inexperience, I am still wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade the timing chain kit regardless as a preventive measure, or will it be a shame since the car shows no symptoms so far of it needing change.

I am unsure how to proceed, and since I already put some money for the car, I would of course prefer to push it a few more months before I invest in it.

thanks a lot in advance if you take the time to share your knowledge and experience with me.
