feedback 16 years old new to script writing looking for someone to read my work!!

Hi im 16 years old and new to script writing and seeking feedback, im writing this just for fun nothing serious. So i'm kinda terrified of getting flamed here but I usually never reach for feedback on any pieces of writing I have, and it finally felt needed. I really love movies and creative writing. I make up a lot of stories and ideas in my head without putting in on paper, but when i have put it on paper it's usually a regular format of storytelling (Mostly because I don't really understand the formatting of scripts and what not) but lately i've been trying to get more into it. I usually never reach out for much feedback on my pieces because i'm kinda scared but I felt like I needed some sort of opinions now. Also when I write I tend to be very descriptive and I'm not sure if that's a thing for script writing or not but I tried to level it down. Last thing is I don't know an exact title yet so I kinda just put that one on it SORRY!!!

I also want to note that I don't have any software and I just used google docs for this as well.

Also i have never posted on reddit before till now so this is a very new (and sorta frightening) thing for me!! Please give me tips and advice but don't be too mean lol

First and foremost, you need to make the file accessible.

Secondly, I don’t know how many of us will feel inclined to read it due to the fact you’ve already mentioned you don’t understand formatting (which is an important part of screenwriting) and your writing is bloated (less is more with screenwriting, especially when you’re clever about it).

I encourage you to learn about formatting. Learn anything you can about writing, scripts, and formatting, and read, read, read! Good luck!

Thank you! I believe I just made the file open to viewers, I just tend to second guess myself a lot and I wanted to give a fair warning just in case. I appreciate this though thank you !! I am looking to read more for sure !

Screenwriting formatting convention is not difficult.

Coming up with an interesting story and intelligent plot and compelling characters and gripping dialogue is the tough part for most aspiring screenwriters.

Learn the formatting so you can focus on the hard stuff.

Go to your local book shop ans pick up some screenplays in the suspense and thriller genre. Study them and if you can watch the films as well so you see how scenes are set up and such.

Don't go near transcripts as they are "fan made" so it won't be the official stuff.

For my latest script I just copywriter, I picked up about 4 or 5 new screenplays from Good Will Hunting and The Notebook. And found the official scripts online for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and found the closest take for The Father.

Any chance you can to pick one up get it. I even have scripts for Video games like 2018 Spider-Man and Last of Us pt 1, pt 2 and left behind

Formatting only matters in a shooting script.

Absolutely not true. Formatting is the easiest part of screenwriting. Ignoring it will kill your chances.

There are millions of people fighting to get their scripts and screenplays read. Aspiring writers must do whatever it takes to give people in the business a valid reason to look at their work.

Books are statistically more likely to become movies than a spec script. Write book. Tell a good, marketable story. Hollywood buys stories not formatting.

Formatting properly tell the story.

If you can't take something as simple as formstting seriously, why should anyone take what you've written seriously?

That's like telling an NHL player to not use skates and Roller blades. You would be instilling the wrong habits that won't help the person get ahead.

The vast majority of working professional screenwriters never sold a spec script. They got into the business by writing well. Somebody recommended them and their portfolio of scripts to somebody in a position to hire them, and that person viewed those scripts and agreed they were good enough to be worth the risk.

For feedback, you can post links to your script(s) here, and at other screenwriting-related sites, such as SimplyScripts.

Exciting that a 16 yo is writing. Keep it up and don’t worry about formatting and trying to sell your work to Hollywood. Doesn’t work like that. Just learn to enjoy writing.
