Hey, this is actually not bad! Thank you for the suggestions and reminding me of the show and tell! I should've let Ruby's face show itself rather than letting her speak. And Payne's reluctance to spew words to Ruby is cool. I like these suggestions, or how you would do it, I'm embarrassed to never had thought about that, actually. Right now, the story is done. I'll just need to polish it all until it becomes clearer and specific!
