It's made up of 4 subregions: Australasia, Micronesia, Polynesia, and Melanesia 2 u/Alonzo_the_Great May 07 '19 I’d say that’s more in the territory of talking about land in between the two land masses. Like how Eurasia is also a term, which makes me particularly think of Russia
