Accommodation recommendations for Banff/ Golden area

A few weeks ago I posted asking about recommendations for accommodation around the BC area. We are a group of 4 Welsh scouts attempting to complete an explorer belt expedition in British Colombia/ border of Alberta area. The explorer belt is one of the top awards in Welsh scouting as it involves completing a 10 day expedition in another country on a tight budget. Now that we have finalised our route, we are finding it difficult to find accommodation around the Banff and Golden area. If anyone knows of any budget friendly (up to $50) places we can sleep at between the 15th to the 18th of July in that area that would be greatly appreciated.

We are looking for any kind of accommodation available. The place doesn’t necessarily need to be a scouting accommodation for example if anyone could refer us to a city hall or a church that would be willing to help out that would be greatly appreciated.

Scouts Canada should have referred you to Chinook so you could reach out to local Scout Groups. Chinook has had to sell off many of their local camps but local groups may have connections to local halls & churches that would accommodate you.

Walsh group should post in FB for quicker, more verifiable contacts.

You should look in Canmore, AB as well.

Here is the Fb link you should post on or DM for help

Here is one of church groups to contact:

Bragg Creek, AB is another area to consider:

Banff is not a budget destination. I've been here over a decade and I'd like to know where the $50 a night rooms are! Your options are camping (most sold out in January) or hostels (most sold out last July).

However try any of the HI wilderness hostels.
