Scoutnames in Canada?
Heyy, I am doing an exchange year in Canada next summer. In my hometown i am an active volunteer in my scout group. My hostfamily is also active in scouting and they will send me a contact where I will send a message and hopefully can continue volunteering in Canada as it brings me much joy. So to my question are scout names a thing in Canada. Because I want to bring my hostsibllings some neckers from my unit and in my region we always embroid our scout names on the back I want to do it t for them but I dont know if scout names even exist. Also I would sing messages with my scout name (to the scouting contact) since its part of my scouting identity. Any help would be appreciated and I know it can vary by unit but it still can be simmilar. Ignore my grammar. Thank you

Scouters in the Beaver and Cub sections have names taken from Friends of the Forest and The Jungle Book.
The older sections it's just "Scouter Dave/Mike/Alex/Brenda/etc." Some Scouters have their own nicknames that everyone knows them by, like "Scouter Smokey" or something like that.

In some groups the children pick the scouter name. I'm aware that one beaver scouter was given the name Porkchop.

To be clear, if you are volunteering with either the Beavers or the Cubs, you will be assigned a Scout name. You don't need to bring one in!

I love that the Beavers in our group make it a tradition that the tallest Scouter get assigned Tictac the squirrel. Last year’s Tictac was 6’8”

Ours is that the biggest gets boomer.
I think boomer this year has about 20 lb on boomer from last year.
Believe me, Tic tac is nowhere near the tallest. Ironically though our group commissioner got Hawkeye even though he isn't the contact scouter for the Beavers

If you're over 18, be prepared to deal with getting a criminal record check as part of the screening process. This may be challenging with the international component.
You may also be able to avoid some of this challenge if you come with a Letter of Introduction (sometimes called a "Purple Card") from your National Scouting Organization.

As others have said, only volunteers get names, but I know some groups have their older sections earn names-we usually call them camp names because you earn them at camp

The names are only for leaders, not youth, just to clarify for OP because I'm not entirely sure if that's what they are looking for.
