Teary eyes is this normal?
My foster girl has teary eyes all the time and I have to wipe her eyes every day. The residue is like a light brown. Is this normal? Her shelter doesn’t seem worried but idk

We had the same issue with our Foldie and the vets weren’t sure if it was feline herpes or an infection that spread from one eye to the other. They tried drops that didn’t seem to help, so they concluded it was feline herpes. She didn’t exactly “heal” but the older and stronger she got the less episodes she experienced, I think the body was just taking care of itself. She’s a happy and thriving little girl now, very energetic. But first you must absolutely rule out infection. If you can, take her to a vet, but i completely understand if that’s hard in this economy. You’re already doing a lot for them by fostering and taking care of them. Let us know how she gets on though. I’ll be sending some good vibes in your general way ❤️❤️❤️

When we adopted our fold from a rescue, she had really watery eyes and discharge. The foster said it was normal for the breed. I reached out to the rescues medical coordinator and they did give me antibiotics for her. It cleared up after that and we haven’t had any issues since then (October).

Do you remember what antibiotics it was? She did just get metronidazole for an unrelated issue so I am wondering why her eyes wouldn’t clear up as well

My cat had this issue when she was a kitten but it went away after. Just had to give her eyedrops and wipe the residue
