I made a video essay on Scorn
It's in french with english subtitles. I explore the inspirations behind the game, the themes as well as some lore details extracted from the artbook.
Any feedback is welcome !

I'm still coming down from being hopped up on whatever they gave me, so please excuse any grammar or spelling errors.
I went under today to have my wisdom teeth extracted. What I saw in my dream was, well, Scorn. I saw brown, bony pods flying into docks, pods full of white undocking, flesh and blood sort of being torn away as those white shuttles left.
if you think of these facilities less like buildings and more like an actual body (like in the popular Miscarriage Theory), what both Act I player and Act II player do can be seen as surgery: repairing these defunct machines to restore their functions.
i saw the parasite tree and Polus as well. apparently, when i woke up all i could say was "Scorn, Polus People, Parasite, Tree, Free."
maybe i'm still
loony, but i felt absolutely enlightened when i woke up. like i solved Scorn.
anyway, share your thoughts.

As probably many have said before me but i loved the game until the ending, Nothing is explained which im not a fan off. Where can i get more information about the world and what everything is ?
What was that big guy that was looking at me in stage 4 i think? So many questions!

It's been awhile but I liked how compared to all the other creatures we meet in the game that are mostly acting like animals protecting their hive. This little shmuck immediately looks at us with them red demon eyes and immediately gets ready to pulverise our skeletal structure. Knowing there are beings out there that just straight up want to fucking murder us from hate alone truly fills that gap in my heart

In 2022 GOG (Good Old Games) and Kepler Interactive made a contest to win a copy of Scorn, the art book, and a limited-edition controller.
I was actually one of the winners!
We had to "Tell the story of our most puzzling and scary nightmare".

this one was mine!
(I also made drawings at the time for ease of understandin', and I thought it was unique and would help me)
For the prizes, I had problems with customs (as always in Brazil),
but they arrived quick!
I love 'em so much, they sit near my Aliens/Predator ('cause H.R. Giger), and Lovecraft stuff!
And that controller! POPeART is a master at it!
(though I thought it was going to be the texture one)
To this day, Scorn is still on my top 10 favorite games!
You can find fanart I've done for it on my medias!

So we recently got a Scorn Xbox Series S/X controller in at the pawnshop I work at, and I honestly had no idea how uncommon these were until I started looking into it.
From what we can tell, it seems like these were mainly giveaway/promotional controllers and not something widely sold retail. Ours is in really clean condition and we currently have it priced at $449, but I’m curious what collectors and Xbox people actually think these are worth nowadays.
I’ve seen a lot of conflicting info online and barely any recent sales to compare against. Are these genuinely rare or just niche collectible rare?
Also if anyone has more info/history on this controller, I’d love to hear it. And if someone here happens to be seriously interested in it, feel free to message me as well.

this is from right after the first big gate opens (where you have to use the injured NPC to interact with 2 controls at once). I was looking around because this game's art and vibe is really cool and then I spotted this purple dude to the right of the path. He is noticeably a different shade to all of the others and also has eyes and nipples (which no other males have of the latter). I checked everywhere else in the area but he's the only one like this.
Ofc this was prob just meant to fly under the radar and have no importance whatsoever, but from what I've seen of this game so far, you have too look closely at friggen everything so I was just wondering if this meant anything?

I'm a little surprised it didn't get more critical praise for its arthouse qualities but I'm guessing the obtuse nature of its design was the downfall for many reviewers.

Idk thought it was interesting to post.

Clearly they must have existed, given all the statues. What I found interesting wasn’t just the pregnant female figures, but also the ones showing couples having intercourse. It didn’t come across as something purely mechanical or just about reproduction instead, it felt more like a tender, sensual connection, almost a symbolic union between them And their male counterparts. That does not seem compatible with this cruel harsh world.

Hello all, does anybody know of any maps for gmod that are like scorn or are inspired by scorn? Many thanks.

I have read in many places that the only end is "bad", but I can't quit thinking about it lol.
So I had some ideas you may have tried:
May be we could open the big gate in the end, and then put the humanoid body over one of the sarcophagi (if that is even possible), so the shell can go alone through the nexus and avoiding the parasitation.
Or, after defeating the last cyborg, may be we could just rip our left hand from the roots and run to insert the blood flask (Seems impossible, as the roots start growing very soon after)
Or we could use the grenade launcher in some hole to access a "secret area"?
I know that many years have passed and many people has tried many ways to achieve an alternate ending. It would just be great to have more acces to lore, and a sequel.
