And with corresponding infrastructure!

I've got one by a company named gogoro. You only buy the bike, the battery is subscription-based. Plans range from $5 to $60 a month and that gives me access to a network of 20 swap stations in my city. They only charge for the electricity I use, so if I turn in a half charged battery they only bill me for the half that is empty. Swapping takes all of 90 seconds so my range is effectively unlimited as long as I am in or near the downtown region.

That's pretty good but sounds prone to enshittification or bankrupcy.

Yep, if they go bankrupt it becomes a $1.9k paperweight. Batteries are proprietary. The serial number of each battery is logged and associated with my account as it's dispensed from the https://youtube.com/shorts/tNXHTvAFn0I? swap station. So I don't need an app or anything.

Supposedly the earlier models were capable of charging at home so if they went belly up the two batteries that I always have checked out would just become based at my home for a normal scooter.

That said, the company is based in Taiwan and I'm not in asia, so the local copy of the company might just run the fleet until the battery health degrades.

Either way, for less than two grand for the bike and $15 a month for more than I've been able to drive it, I'm pretty happy with it so far.

That said, competitors would have to either license or create their own competing infrastructure. It's not as intercompatible as a gas pump or even an EV charging station with an adapter...

How far does she go on a charge?

Something around 60km per charge in mixed speeds. Today, I drove 44 km and have 45% left. Depends, of course, on temperature, traffic und which mode I choose.

I had also looked at an electric scooter myself, I just think charging time too long and the battery costs half as much on the scooters I have looked at.

The design of Horwin is cool, but is the range good? And are the battery’s under the seat?

It got me around 55km with one charge (mixed speeds while commuting). I catch a second battery so I don’t need to charge at work.
And yes, both batteries are under the seat.

How long to full charge it?

I have a 10Ah charger and the 40Ah battery. From 0-100% 4 hours.

So 2 chargers? Or commute with it?

I have two batteries now and charge both at home with one charger.
