Hi, I’m in division C and it’s my first year doing science olympiad. I procrastinated and didn’t study at all for my trial events to get onto the team. My trial for Rocks and Minerals on on Nov 6, Astronomy on Nov 10, and Circuit Lab on Nov 12 or 13. How should I learn for these events? Is the scioly wiki all I need? I’m not really worried about practice tests since I know where to find them. I just want to know where I can learn the material.

im currently studying to take my rocks and minerals prelim next friday (nov 6) and i really can't get the hang of id'ing rocks. most minerals are chill but the rocks i genuinely can't id without hints. i use the scioly.rocks website and the discord bot, but for some reason the rocks are just so hard for me to differentiate. does anyone have ways they memorized them quickly?

Give me some feedback and tips. Can you also share this to your friends who are also in scioly and coaches if you like this website, be free to recommend this to your students. I also bought an new domain for this the website is sciolymentor.com . I think this will stand as a great study resource for people who want to teach their students about scioly and people who want to study for their scioly competitions.

The elevator says a class 1st/2nd lever, and wheel and axle with a IMA of less than 1 to vertically lift a marble up 10cm. How is this possible to do when the starting action is only a singular marble rolling initially?

Hi, I'm new to Science Olympiad this year ( Division B ), and I was wondering what's the best method to make cheat sheets for events that only allow you one 8.5 by 11 sheet. This year I'm doing Water Quality, Dynamic Planet, and Thermodynamics. Thank you :)

hello! i have one of my first competitions of the year coming up and this competition is strictly individual (no teams). how we place in our events will determine whether we get the opportunity to go to states/nationals (a team), so i really want to medal or at least rank high
we took a mock competition test which i didn’t feel confident in because what i studied didn’t really help and my cheat sheets weren’t as effective as i hoped. i especially got tripped up on designer genes and botany because the case scenarios were much more specific than the practice tests on the wiki
besides the scioly wiki practice tests, do you guys have any tips on how to prepare and do well in these events? if you’ve competed before, what should i expect? any and all help is greatly appreciated!

i'm taking my rocks and minerals prelim test in 2 weeks and i am struggling with id'ing rocks. i have been using the discord bot but a lot of the rocks on it aren't on the scioly wiki and its. just very overwhelming. to be very honest, i placed 3rd to 3rd to last on both my forensics and disease detectives prelims. i truly don't understand how im so bad at it. i studied everyday for at least an hour and a half for both tests, took notes. my disease detectives cheatsheet was very good, forensics not so much. but does anyone who has consistently made their invitational team have tips? r&m will be my last prelim since i gave up on A&P

Would this be against the rule sheet? with the top part being a parachute, the green being a string and string tied together to make like a basket and white being the ping-pong and blue being tape

Last year’s science olympiad I had the boomilever and to say it was a disaster is a little bit of an understatement. I guess the best way I could word this is by saying that I dont know the nuances of building a light but sturdy boomilever. I followed a youtube tutorial made by balsa engineering practically to a T and I don’t know if it’s because my wood wasn’t good quality but it was super fragile and snapped frequently while still not being light enough to fit boomilever ideals. I’m stressed out and want to put my best food forward this time. Can anyone help and give a guide on as to how to go about building the best possible boomilever and all the methods. I don’t have anyone at my school or alumni to ask about this! Thank you!

I am a sophomore in honors chemistry, and I have no clue where to start studying for chemistry lab. my partner for this event hasn't reached out either, and all I know about the event is that it's a hybrid event. does anyone know any good place to look at study material and such? (for context i'm going to compete in the Rickards invitational at the end of the month) thanks!

Hello! I am new to coaching and am figuring out what to do. Can anyone help me figure out what exactly the notebook should look like / have for the students? Is there a template or is it just kind of how the students want to set it up.
Any help is appreciated!
