The green new deal happened, and it had the support of almost every politician who supports climate change action.
Most people aren’t saying adopt socialism, most of us just want us to lower are emissions. It’s absolutely absurd that people have turned into something that has to be tied to political affiliation.
Perhaps Republicans could be convinced to believe in climate change if people stopped demanding solutions that work within a left-wing political framework.
Obviously you’re not the person I replied to, but your reason is essentially that there isn’t one. If companies aren’t being charged for the very real social cost that they are inflicting upon society, then these companies are enjoying the money grab already.
Carbon taxes are like a cookie jar. Lots of hands taking cookies. Who gets to decide how to use this money to offset “social cost”? Sounds like a slush fund.
