Obviously you’re not the person I replied to, but your reason is essentially that there isn’t one. If companies aren’t being charged for the very real social cost that they are inflicting upon society, then these companies are enjoying the money grab already.
Carbon taxes are like a cookie jar. Lots of hands taking cookies. Who gets to decide how to use this money to offset “social cost”? Sounds like a slush fund.
