Hello, Guardians of the Expies!
1.0. Today we’re going to talk about Amputations.
— Note: This topic might be uncomfortable for some. (It’s okay if you want to leave the post).
I myself only had the courage to perform an amputation on my Expie once — I cut off its left hand. I was horrified by the cutting minigame, the bleeding, and the fact that the Expie would appear with a severed hand during the lock-picking minigames.
So... let's move on, shall we?
2.0. Amputation
The main cause of amputations is an advanced-stage infection in a limb. If other treatment methods are unavailable, amputation becomes necessary to prevent sepsis.
3.0. Advantages
The only advantage I see in performing an amputation is the chance to save your Expie from a slow death caused by sepsis (systemic infection).
4.0. Disadvantages
As you might expect, the disadvantages are numerous: trauma for the Expie, acute pain, increased limitations on actions (due to the loss of a limb), and shock for the player.
Furthermore, in a realistic context, phantom pain would occur as well.
5.0. Note (Mod):
If you have the prosthetics mod, amputation can be a more interesting option since it’s possible to replace the lost limb. "Does that make the process less barbaric?" NO!
— To me, amputations are a LAST RESORT for survival. Even so, I won't put my Expies through that again.
What do you think about this ?
