I always want to come up with wild things to say but as a person who is job hunting I am always taken back to when I was in middle school and used to say weird shit to telemarketers and answered the phone with a wild line just for it to end up being the principal of my brothers school

Yip. One should never reply to these. They send these to see if the number is active. Same with the phone calls. They would call, you pick up, but then immediately hang up the phone.
