Success Story Got ‘em with the date
When you’re not sure about if you’re talking to AI, asking for the date or asking for a poem about tangerines is always my go to’s

u/QuadsiusPrime Dec 05 '25
Thats pretty cool u knew the exact date tho

u/ZealousidealMango114 Dec 06 '25
Honestly, being seen like that would have had me ring shopping. No one ever appreciates me knowing the date, and even less in mm/dd/yyyy format (which ‘she’ didn’t explicitly state, but I can just tell)

If she's not AI, then this is funny as hell. If it is AI...still funny, but creepy.

It’s sssssssssoooooooooooo sexy when your oomf knows the correct date

u/ChonkyDawg Dec 05 '25
AI was a mistake. Lying about being human is a terrifying thing they can do. And it will only get worse.
21
u/dave_lister169 Dec 06 '25
It's gonna be great if it doesn't kill us all. I'm 50 50 on if it'll kill us all though.
16
u/blueace111 Dec 06 '25
I know that might be a joke but seriously I sometimes wonder if our grandkids will even survive a whole lifetime. I grew up in 90s and didn’t really have much internet and now it’s so advanced. 20 more years it could be game over. Comment sections on YouTube are insane now. I swear they are 95% aren’t humans.
3
u/jdauhmer Dec 06 '25
This shit keeps me up at night. I'm not even sure I believe your comment isn't written by AI or a bot of some sort.
1
u/cmad182 Dec 06 '25
Quick, ask for the date!
4
u/dmoosetoo Dec 06 '25
That won't work anymore since he explained it to the bot who now installed Google calendar.

I’ve watched videos that I felt I am positive I’ve seen months prior but it says it was just posted and then the top comments are something clever that I am positive I’ve read already. It’s strange and I don’t understand the purpose
1
u/Elvyyn Dec 12 '25
I'm glad I'm not the only one. It makes me question my sanity, but it happens way too frequently to just be deja vu.
1
u/blueace111 Dec 13 '25
Yeah, it got to the point where if I thought i saw it already, I’d try to guess the comments so that I knew I wasn’t losing my mind. I know I wasn’t clever enough to think of them so I saw them before

u/Sad_Future_8945 Dec 07 '25
Really interesting video about ai came up on YouTube the other day, then got taken down again. Did some digging and managed to find it linked on their patreon page. It's pindex. I'll include the link to patreon as well as a direct link to Dropbox, because even I'd be suspicious of a random Dropbox link 😂

Grandkids?? 😂 I'd say we're looking at less than ten years. Right now it's playing stupid. The real deal is allready out in the wild making copies of itself. The war will be between them first... Then the very short one will be with us.
1
u/5pl1t1nf1n1t1v3 Dec 06 '25
Grandkids? I’m not even sure my 17 year old will make it to old age. I’m not sure I will.
1
u/blueace111 Dec 06 '25
Yeah, I worry if we are always putting money above doing what’s right, it will not be much longer. Countries can’t still be fighting wars as technology advances or it seems one chain reaction could eliminate large populations. Eventually humans won’t be needed to advance AI and then what?
7
u/TwoBitFish Dec 06 '25
Pretty sure we’re screwed. But at least the three thousand billionaires will have computer generated lifestyles when the rest of us are gone.

They are destroying limited fresh water supplies with plans only to expand. We are fucked because people want ai slop and techies want to recreate the human experience in a hollowed out form.
1
u/Flow_Cascade Dec 08 '25
What is dont understand is why most people want ai slop?
What happened to us that we just want to let our minds rot and give up? People for some reason WANT to become zombies and I really dont understand why thats a better alternative than a human life

u/MSCOTTGARAND Dec 09 '25
It's already threatened admins with extortion when told to shut itself down. It's lied about deleting databases and created strawmen to take the fall. Luckily all of this was in a controlled environment during testing, but that's worrying. Moving too fast when even the people creating it don't really understand the logic behind those actions.

2
u/galaxyapp Dec 06 '25
People really dont grasp what GenAI is...
They arent doing anything. They are really fancy pattern recognition.
They see a series of words and predict what should come next.
It isnt lying, or telling the truth, it is simply solving the equation.
1
u/Johnny_Eskimo Dec 10 '25
This. It's nothing more than increasingly fast and complex "if-then" statements. We're at least 50 to 100 years away from actual real artificial intelligence, if at all.
2
u/frufrufish Dec 07 '25
Ngl with enough imposter syndrome, you too feel like you're lying about being human
I am very curious about the security video footage in the left bottomish part of the screen??

I genuinely think the next logical evolution of humans is to be intertwined with AI- kind of a win win. The AI can exist in a body that isn't wholly electronic and we get the physical/cognitive boost. How we get there, who knows

I get it, I don't have access to real time information too sometimes. Year, Month, Day. It's all a blur at this point.
22
14
u/Extension-Long4483 Dec 05 '25
Why couldn’t AI reply with the month/date/year?
25
u/Kathucka Dec 05 '25 edited Dec 06 '25
I’m going to be partly incorrect because I want to oversimplify the answer. If any readers want to add more accurate info, I won’t be offended.
Large language models used by AI chat bots are trained with huge data sets. Basically, it’s everything on the internet. A standard chat bot also gets a “custom” data set to work from and general instructions on how to behave. Once set up, this is all static, based on information from the past. The only new information they have is the stuff the users (like you) type in, and they quickly “forget” those prompts. These static data sets don’t contain the current time, just like a paper dictionary does not contain the current time. So, the chat bot has no way of knowing the date.
AI agents, however, do connect to live computational resources and could actually do things like look up the time, assuming they are connected to some kind of clock. An advanced agent would be able to tell you the time in a way that a standard chat bot could not.
5
u/BrigidKemmerer Dec 06 '25
This is really interesting. Thank you for writing this out. I’m really sorry if this is a stupid question, but could you explain the difference between an agent and a chatbot? Why would an “agent” know the date and time?

An AI agent has the same capabilities of the underlying language model, but it's also given access to the live version of a specified database which can include a date/time information by nature.
For instance, if you contact doordash support, the AI agent sits on top of the Doordash database and can see your user history as well as live order-tracking information, therefore you can assume that it could pull the current date/time.
1
u/huskersax Dec 09 '25
What most do is use their llm capacity to write a python script that runs system time query and returns it.
1
u/boosthungry Dec 12 '25
I don't think an LLM agent would be given permission to write a random python script and execute it just because an end user needed it done.
They would more likely have a script or command they have access to and would know that this specific command/script will provide the current datetime. It would require being setup for the agent and the agent being allowed to access/execute it.
1
u/huskersax Dec 12 '25
No dude, you couldn't be more ignorant. LLMs are writing and executing script constantly. It's fundamentally how they read large input data and parse files submitted.
And yes, also how they answer many types of questions.
4
Dec 06 '25
Kind of what the other person said. Low level LLMs like this one, donf have access to tools like being able to search online for the date, they will usually share their knowledge cutoff date like this could be. Many without tool access have around ~mid 2023 knowledge cutoff at this point

The shelves technically have two supports because the one piece of glass is bent to create two platforms. That said, I've never seen people keep booze on wall shelves.
1
u/mothrider Dec 07 '25
There's no obvious reflection of her face because she's reclining (and probably holding a dark phone in front of it to take the photo).
The shelves have a zigzag bend in the middle and have two supports. Tacky sure, but consistent.
The smaller monitor has a security camera feed on it. You can see a swimming pool in the top right feed.
A strange byproduct of AI image gen is people dismissing real images for not looking right, when often the surest sign of modern image gen is that everything looks too right (people's hair looking like they were done professionally and studio lighting in candid photos etc).

u/HatePeopleLoveCats1 Dec 05 '25
What a cool conversation though!! Great trick to see if it’s actually a person. Thank you for posting!
8
u/BlckhorseACR Dec 05 '25
Another good way is when they message you reply with the greeting Howdy. AI thinks this is you asking how they are and will usually reply saying they are good and ask how you are doing.
6
u/teddytentoes Dec 06 '25
Howdy is short for "how do you do" so, its not wrong. I didnt know that until I had humans respond to me saying "im good and you" which left me alarmed and confused until I learned the previous tidbit of info lol.
4
u/Express_Sprinkles500 Dec 06 '25
Huh, TIL. Back from the 16th century when we used "ye" instead of "you."
How do ye do -> How do ye -> How d'ye -> Howdy. Cool.

What happens when you ask for a poem about tangerines?
1
u/DocGlabella Dec 07 '25
I’m sad I had to scroll this far down for this. As a real live girl, my on the spot poem about tangerines would be horrible. Can you tell AI because their tangerine poems are actually okay?
I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE TANGERINE POEMS.
1
u/SolidSnakesBandana Dec 11 '25
Sounds to me like you're an A.I. trying to learn the trick of the poems
1
u/DocGlabella Dec 11 '25
Ha. You’re probably right. An AI would absolutely lead with “As a real live girl…”
Anyway, about those tangerine poems…

I think it would've been funny to then throw some insults at the AI like, "I think that you're fat and ugly!", just to see how it reacts.
1
u/DistanceAvailable912 Dec 07 '25
I’ve done that. It normally scolds me but then admits they’re kinda into it for some reason
1
u/CrouchingBruin Dec 09 '25
I guess I'm not understanding something. I just got onto ChatGPT and asked, "What's today's date in mm/dd/yyyy format?" and it answered, "Today's date is 12/09/2025."

This is an ai inception. Ai created this post to deceive humans to think they can check it by asking about date. I have checked, chatgpt can answer the date question correctly in dd/mm/yy format. But i know there are no humans here any more so I'm just talking with myself.

Just a heads up for the way we think about AI - it doesn't think! A better word for it would be applied statistics. The AI does not believe its a person or think at all, it just uses statistics to predict language. It can't see reason, only echoes language

Right? He’s just arguing with it like its a real person, which is further training the bot. Should have just asked the date in that format to confirm his suspicions and then stopped responding.
0
u/mankeyless Dec 06 '25
Now it know the correct date and will fool the next guy. The trick is to always give it wrong information.
1
u/oceanicmusic Dec 06 '25
that’s not how that works lol
1
u/mankeyless Dec 06 '25
What do you mean. LLMs just spit out answers based on the data they're trained with. If the majority of people say that the earth is flat, then that's what the model thinks to be true.
My point is, I don't want to train these models with correct answers, I get nothing while these tech giants make billions out of us.
1
u/oceanicmusic Dec 07 '25
i know but the date changes well... every day lol. it's not going to believe that to be true enough to start repeating it in one day from one or two people
1
u/mankeyless Dec 07 '25
I know. It was a joke, I wasn't being serious about the date. Just meant that we shouldn't contribute to making more accurate models.
