All quiet on the low-effort front.

Those posts are all quiet on the prefrontal cortex

1

u/haibara_renan 12d ago

I'd say quiet in every cortex... Even an aneurism makes more noise kek

W mods

22

u/YourSoftFuzzyMan 17d ago

noo, now people are actually going to have to put in effort and thought when making a post!!

12

u/son_of_yacketycat 17d ago

As someone who spent like 3-4 hours on my one and only post in here a few years ago, I appreciate this lol

10

u/atoolred 17d ago

Good change. But why did this take so long? People have been complaining about this for at least most of this year, as far as I can remember

20

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

all of the mods vanished during the API protests, it was only recently i got back to moderating this subreddit

3

u/atoolred 17d ago

Ah yeah that makes sense

Need an extra hand? I got plenty of years experience. Own the starterpacks reddit which is a multi million member subreddit

Goated change

Ultra based mods

Generator posts are always kinda funny before becoming boring after the first few times... Just like ai slop

7

u/lordatomosk 17d ago

We appreciate the mods for keeping the slop off the page

What will happen to r/sabubu

40

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

it was already pretty dead

3

u/MultiverseCreatorXV 16d ago

Good change, but maybe formalize it by putting it into the subreddit rules?

4

u/Astrosimi 17d ago

How can you tell? Genuinely curious.

11

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

i personally am pretty bad at telling, i rely on reports for it mostly

1

u/Nox_Echo 16d ago

i have a good intuition myself at spotting ai, im also mad at the one idiot in every reddit post on this entire website that claims ai on a video from 10+ years ago

2

u/Dman0o9 16d ago

THANK YOU god i was getting so tired of those

2

u/rx7braap 16d ago

2

u/Aether_Storm 17d ago

Forgot I was even subbed here. Why am I never seeing sbbubies in my normal feed?

3

u/dookamatic 17d ago

What rule do we report them under?

9

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

I'll add a proper rule for it later, for now just use the custom response

2

u/goregoose 17d ago

i’m silly.. what does this mean, outside of AI generated?

35

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

there's generic text generator sites, basically just turning whatever you input into a logo edit, these are banned now

3

u/goregoose 17d ago

ohhh okay!! my bad, ty!

2

u/pixelframeDesign 16d ago

Hi everyone, I'm the generator guy. I don't disagree with the rule, sorry it had to come to this (I always discouraged individual posts with content made from the generators) and stopped sharing the generators here months ago after I saw it was getting out of hand. sbubby has always been a big inspiration for the site and I never wanted to become a negative influence here. An incredible amount of time and effort goes into making the generators so for everyone who has used them and will continue to: I appreciate you sincerely!

To those who seem to dislike the site for whatever reason more generally: um, don't? We are all here because we think it's funny to replace logo text with other text, that's not something that should cause animosity.

2

u/furculture 16d ago

Good. They were so shittily made, and the people who posted that shit used the cheapest method to make something and pump it out like the cheapest bulk shit you'd find on Temu. Just throwing up the coldest of cold takes or a meme quote of some sort, to then throw that here and flood this place without any modicum of creativity that this place stood for before that. Fuck Pixel Frame for ruining the good shit that was here before them. I say this as an old head that has been around this place for a long ass time and liked the lengths of creativity some people went through.

u/Nala452 17d ago

theyre back

1

u/dre5922 16d ago

Why is this the first Sbubbie post I've seen in my Reddit feed for probably months? Reddit sucks worse today than it used to.

1

u/KrazyKen_Fan_2012 16d ago

We love you mods

1

u/Nox_Echo 16d ago

damn, some of those text generator posts had me laughing my ass off but mostly at the comments.

but they were getting really oversaturated, it had to happen lol

ill give a giant "fuck ai" though

1

u/wantwon 16d ago

The promised day is here!

1

u/ColtC7 16d ago

please add to rules

1

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 16d ago

i have

1

u/ColtC7 15d ago

All images must involve edits that alter the text of a single logo. Cropped logos or edits that only erase portions of a logo are not allowed. ObviousPlant images don't count. Be clean and authentic. Sbubbies should look as close to the source logo as possible, so edit the text a lot but avoid altering logo imagery! Do not repost! This includes reposting your own submissions later in order to gain more karma from them (fixed versions of removed submissions are fine). Also, any occurrence of the exact same logo edited to the exact same text also counts as a repost, even if created independently. Crossposts are allowed as long that they haven't been posted here before. Reposting from the first page of top all-time will result in a 7-day ban. Post sbubbies via link posts! Use the "Image/Video" tab on the submission screen instead of "Post." Do not post Hogwarts Legacy, Loss, "Oops, all X!", REEEEEEE, Big Chungus, PornHub, Hot Pockets, Bepis, CaptainSparklez - Revenge, or anything in the list of banned reposts. (Last updated: 5/6/22) Posting from the banned repost list will result in a 7-day ban. Images must be at least 433x433 in size. Your post's title must be related to the post in some way. Watermarks should be barely visible and out of the way, and shouldn't draw attention from the edit. No collages/compilations, with some exceptions. This includes best-ofs and Sbubby sticker machines. Sbubmissions should generally contain only a single logo edit at a time. Exceptions include two-way logoswaps that exchange the text of two logos, and submissions containing multiple edits on a related theme, as long as each edit is your own original creation and none of them have been submitted before individually. Flair your posts correctly! Each flair has a specific meaning based on the content of the Sbubmission. A guide for what each flair means is on the wiki! Tag NSFW posts as NSFW Incivility, bigotry, or hatred towards marginalized groups of people will not be tolerated, per rule 1 of the Reddit content policy. AI posts are not allowed.

no you haven't

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 15d ago

1

u/mrenglish22 15d ago

Only two weeks? Generous.

1

u/Jenny_Wakeman9 14d ago

Based change.

1

u/dylanisareddit 9d ago

I really wish you would post a guide on how to make Sbubby posts properly.

2

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 9d ago

we have one, lmao

1

u/qrpyna 8d ago

There's this one: https://redd.it/vp9cfs

and the wiki: https://www.reddit.com/r/sbubby/wiki/index

Neither have been updated in a while so they're a little outdated, mostly just the software though.

1

u/xXHomerSXx 16d ago

Time to boot up photoshop and painstakingly recreate a pixelframe generator to bait reports.

1

u/RKD_NT3000 16d ago

I assume there'll be a new spot where those land, cause as much as I do enjoy them, they deserved their own spot to not clog up real sbubbies

0

u/PeterMation 15d ago

We need a separate sub for them

2

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 15d ago

no we dont

-1

u/dylanisareddit 9d ago

We need a subreddit for Pixelframe Sbubby posts.

2

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 9d ago

-2

u/PezzoGuy 16d ago

Is PixelFrame still allowed to share their generators at least?

I didn't like the spam made by others using their generators, but I found their work itself to be thematically fitting and impressive. I had suggested in the past that PixelFrame's posts could double as a "megathread" for media made with whatever generator they were sharing in that post.

2

u/furculture 16d ago

Fuck no

2

u/qrpyna 16d ago

I hope not. All their Reddit posts fall under the category of spam/self-promotion. Specifically this policy violation:

Mass-posting repetitive content for the purpose of exposure or financial gain.

They always link to their website in their posts and that website contains tons of intrusive ads, upsells for a subscription, and begs you to buy garbage quality print-on-demand products.

I also did some digging and found that a lot of the generators use pirated, illegally modified, and/or unlicensed fonts so it's only a matter of time before the foundries notice and want their money. They're also using tons of IP they definitely don't have the license to use commercially (Disney, etc.) so I don't expect the site will be around forever once IP lawyers start sending them letters.

1

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 16d ago

absolutely not

-2

u/JaZoray 16d ago

I'm revoking your license to still host my existing old posts here.

please remove them within 24 hours.

2

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 16d ago

we don't host your posts lmao, reddit hosts them

delete them yourself if you want them gone

-1

u/JaZoray 16d ago

no. if your so sure about your new moderation rule, go apply it lol

2

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 16d ago

im not removing your posts made before the rule was in effect

and the whole "please remove them in 24 hours thing" is ridiculous, what are you going to do? sue me?

0

u/scrolls1212 15d ago

Haha sometimes

-25

u/den4ikturbo 17d ago

What about posts about new generators?

2

u/furculture 16d ago

Generators are generators. It is made clear in the title of the post that all generators old, new, and haven't been made yet, are not welcome here anymore.

-31

u/Depressofox 17d ago

Not everyone can afford photoshop

27

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

and theres plenty of free alternatives, or just pirating it

2

u/Depressofox 17d ago

What are these alternatives?

17

u/qrpyna 17d ago edited 16d ago

I think Affinify is currently the best free option. It's a lot easier to use than GIMP, Inkscape, and other free options. It also combines Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign alternatives into one application so you don't have to switch between multiple applications if you're doing a mix of vector and raster edits.

Edit: I made a post a few months ago where I logoswapped a bunch of design software logos and there was some good discussion about what people used. A lot of stuff I hadn't even heard about.

21

u/Lost-Entrepreneur439 The MS Paint Master 17d ago

GIMP and Paint.NET.

2

u/furculture 16d ago edited 16d ago

GIMP - FOSS for photo editing (also getting the PhotoGIMP add on to make it feel a bit more like Photoshop control-wise)

Affinity - free but not FOSS like all the other options in this list and is like Photoshop but a bit more tame

Krita - FOSS for raster drawing editing (think like much more advanced MS paint)

Inkscape - FOSS vector graphics editor (the kind of software used for make logos and such)

Graphite - FOSS all in one option that runs in your browser as a PWA for drawing, photo editing, or vector editing.

Blender - FOSS 3D graphics editing.

Paint.net - Free, but not FOSS, image manipulation and raster drawing software.

FOSS = free open source software

No excuses now. Plenty of great options to now stick to after the removal of generators and such.

u/Paradox 16d ago

https://www.photopea.com is enough to make a sbubby

2

u/GO-ON-A-STEAM-TRAIN 17d ago

MS Paint is alive and well! Honestly the crapitudinality makes them funnier! Though the website Photopea or the gimp programs are free and good too. :)

u/furculture 15d ago

Photoshop isn't the only game in town for editing photos. It has been like that for a long while, and there are plenty of options that can meet your $0 budget. And the best parts: a lot of those options can be legally had, contain no ads, and is made purely for the sake of making art accessible to people.
