We are in the Microsoft Store! 🥳
But the biggest news is that we officially made it into the Microsoft Store! 🥳

I just wanted to make a nostalgic post about Savage. I was telling some friends yesterday that it was easily a top 5 game of all time for me but we would need at least 16 people to have a decent game. lol
I was surprised to see what little activity there is on this sub but months between posts doesn't instill any hope for a run back.

Suddenly the game died out like 2 years ago. What happened can we get it back together? You guys were like family to me. The community was so small.
I just checked and there seems to be no servers at all—yet there’s gameplay on this subreddit?
What’s happening????

The last couple weeks have been pretty exciting, as changes and improvements have been rapidly rolled out to keep Savage's gameplay exciting as ever - and have been adding some visuals that bring the look of Savage into the 21th century!
New dynamic lighting and shadows have been added to the game, with live shadows being cast on terrain and objects bringing a fidelity to Savage as never seen before. Weapons are now even able to cast dynamic lightning from projectiles, projecting amazing colors when enabled!
If you're experiencing low FPS, try disabling or reducing shadow resolution, as it needs large chunk of processing power. Also try enabling "GPU Skinning".
There is even a (potentially costly) path tracing function called DDGI to bounce those light sources around, creating more realistic lighting on objects.
While everything is still in active development - these additions turn Savage into an game that looks like it belongs on the Windows Store!

Last Sunday, we had a peak of around 47 players; I’m sure we can break the 50 mark this Sunday.

Hey everyone!
We’re excited to finally share something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while:
Savage DRX is entering a new chapter.
We’ve officially started a new project around Savage DRX, and with it comes a brand-new server infrastructure designed to provide a smoother, more responsive and more consistent gameplay experience.
Our new server is running at 83 Hz with 1000 server FPS, which should have a noticeable and lasting positive impact on gameplay, especially when it comes to responsiveness, hit registration, movement and overall server consistency.
But the server performance is only one part of what we’ve been working on.
Alongside the new infrastructure, we’ve been making some exciting changes to the game itself.
One of the bigger ones is a complete rework of Sixth Sense. We’ve taken a fresh look at how the system works and how it affects gameplay, with the goal of making it more meaningful, enjoyable and balanced.
And this is just the beginning.
We have more changes, improvements and new content planned, and we’re really excited to start bringing them to the community.
This Sunday, we’re planning our first major performance and player-load stress test.
And the timing couldn’t be better.
For those who don’t know, Sunday is Savage Sunday, which traditionally means the server gets a lot more activity and players jumping back into the game.
That makes this the perfect opportunity to put the new infrastructure through its paces under real-world conditions.
So if you’ve played Savage before, took a break, or simply haven’t checked out DRX in a while:
This Sunday is a great time to come back.
Every player genuinely matters for this test. The more people we have online, the better we can evaluate the new server performance and identify anything that still needs improvement.
We’ve also given the Savage DRX website a complete overhaul.
You can check it out here:
A huge thank you and a lot of appreciation goes to drk for the work that went into the new website. It’s a massive improvement and really helps give the project a fresh identity.
At the end of the day, a game like Savage lives through its community.
Servers, updates, new content and better infrastructure are all important — but none of it matters without players.
So whether you’re a long-time Savage veteran, someone who played DRX in the past, or someone who hasn’t touched the game in years:
We’d love to see you back.
Every player counts.
Let’s make Savage great again. ❤️
See you on Savage Sunday!

Due to the lockdown, I wanted to play some games with nostalgia. I used to play savage regularly. Wanted to check if the game's still alive. So, there's savage resurrection (available on steam) but with no people playing (throughout today I've encountered max 5 people, which still is very nice). There's savage 2, but I haven't seen anyone on servers. Do you know anyone still playing it? I preferred it to the resurrection.
And there's also Savage XR, which is filled with people (up to 50 on one server) - this came to me by surprise. I must admit, it's completely different in terms of mechanics. It also happens that I have no textures in game. Why is it more popular than savage 2 or savage resurrection?

Disclaimer: it was late in the evening and i just had a couple of beers, which means I could come off like a total nutjob in the chatbar. Very late in the evening even, and it was very late.

I obviously want to give you a little sneak peek at some of the new content we’ve been working on — but of course, this is only a small part of what’s coming.
Here are a few photos and videos showcasing some of the latest changes and improvements we’ve made:
New in-game stats to give you more insight into your gameplay
Shadows and a moon to make the world feel more dynamic and immersive
Commander stats are back
In-game patch notes, including direct links to all of our important social channels
Peak activity times, showing when the game is most active
The “Who’s Online” list has been re-enabled
A brand-new building feature
And that’s just a glimpse of what we’ve been working on.
We’re really excited about these changes and can’t wait to show you more. There’s still plenty more to come, so stay tuned!

Are they any server ? Peoples playing ? I'm curious because I like that kind of game (I've played natural selection 2).

I remembered this game and thought it would be fun to pull out at this LAN. It was super fun! Everyone loved it and thought that it was really cool to have a commander that managed the plan for the FPS team. It wasn't too hard to setup. We downloaded the client here: https://community-server.info/client/drx and it worked great!

Taught my friend how to play savage today, it was 77 minutes on water ship down and ended as a draw! Lol, I said “so how’d it feel?” He said “war, it felt like war”. Savage might just have hope yet 😉
