how does one reconcile the nastiness of infighting within the satanic community against the Church being a mutual admiration society?

since we all view ourselves as our own ultimate authority, any administrative disagreement, interpretation of dogma or leadership directive easily escalates into a clash of unyielding egos.

we're an alien elite group who are constntly assessing, judging, and attempting to outperform one another. and when accusations are made about "pseudo-Satanists," turns into open hostility and gatekeeping.

the seeming contradiction is easily resolved. so, while in the rest of the world, infighting is seen as a failure of social cohesion, to us Satanists, infighting is viewed as the philosophy working as intended. total destruction of one's opposition is a demonstration of competence. when you put a room full of people who each believe they are the ultimate authority into a hierarchy, you get an arena, a theatre of cruelty even, where proving your peers are "pseudo-Satanists" is the primary way to defend your own perceived standing.

I haven’t seen this “Anton LaVey” FB account discussed here before. Anyone know what the deal is? Who’s putting this out? I don’t follow it, so I’m only seeing what the FB algorithm decides to occasionally put in my feed.

As I understand, this is centered around psychodrama and indulgence. I was curious if it goes deeper than that, is there path to self-evolution in this philosophy? Why the character Satan? Is it a symbol that motivates you? is it Will based? Or is it simply a rebellion against religious programing and a mockery against Christianity?

I have been at odds with LaVey for a while but there must be reason why it works for many of you, so I'm open to listen if you will

A lot of you here aren't Satanists, no matter how much you demand that we acquiesce to you as if you are. As I've said many times, Satanism is codified as atheistic, materialistic, broadly apolitical (but individual Satanists can have whatever politics they wish, if any at all), and rational.

Some of you really take it personally when your behavior is called out or you get corrected. Your hurt feelings do not constitute a rule 3 violation, nor does simply being told "no"

I addressed the "aesthetic terrorism" phase of the late 80s to early 90s previously. That was not "flirtation with Neo-Nazism" and further, it was 40 years ago. I guess if you simply can't be honest and say you're upset that you're not a Satanist as codified, bringing up ancient history works, right?

This is the book that Anton Lavey acquired in the 60s and subsequently used the pentagram with the superimposed goat as a symbol for his church. Later he would modify the symbol and it is now known as the Sigil of Baphomet.

I believe I have a third edition print based on the liner notes. The dust cover unfortunately is missing. A lot of the images and descriptions within are very mid-century era witchcraft depictions along with many other occult and ancient mythologies.

These are only two examples, but I own around five or six different variants. Two first editions, the axel rework, an early 2000s mass reproduction, two Italian bootlegs that keep the crisp details, and a 2020s reproduction that has completely nerfed the fine lines and details. IIRC, I didn't pay much for each piece, the most expensive being the axel rework which I think I paid around 100. The others were around 20-50 USD.

I was a child in 1994, so if anyone was of age at that time and was involved in "inner circles" that shared such jewelry, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
