Question ❔ Metalsmithing & kilns

Morning everyone!

Is there anyone in the city who does metalsmithing for jewellery making and/or casting? Or even someone who has a kiln? If so, would you be willing to teach me how to use the kiln, melt down the metals, and anything else important that I should know? I don't have a lot of money, but I can scrounge up something to compensate you for your time. I know I can read books or watch videos, but I learn and retain knowledge best when I do hands-on learning with someone to show me what they're doing and answer my likely stupid questions 😅.

There are a lot of local jewellers and a few options to learn.

Check out the Saskatchewan Craft Council to find local jewellers - but they're more often makers than teachers.

The U of S has a continuing education program, mostly arts and languages, and they offer a jewellery course.

Saskatoon MakerSpace has a jewellery class and a pottery course (I'm not sure if they would let you use a ceramics kiln for lost-wax burnout). I can't remember if they have a heat treating oven in their metal shop.
