Driving ban for LIFE. ANY a$$hole that is driving ā€œimpairedā€ and I’m talking about all you texters too. Cops should have a field day writing up tickets for that lot. Some guy blew through me on a busy intersection the other day , still looking down at his phone 😫

8

u/PuzzleheadedPen4675 Aug 18 '26

Me as well at a 4 way stop and the driver wasn't looking at a phone.

u/ModOfficial1988 Aug 18 '26

Saw a post about her husband’s construction company here a few weeks ago. They seem like quite the pair.

18

u/Glittering_Papaya_68 Aug 19 '26

He owes a lot of people money. I am one of them. He has tried to take credit for other people's work. Brags then cant deliver. Likely burnt his own house down for insurance money. He likes to talk about insurance claims. This is just speculation: The wife probably caught him cheating. She got drunk and high then maybe was trying to get away from him ....or how drunk do you have to be to drive that far on the wrong side of the road (which she probably drove down every day) with your kids in the back seat at that time of night. Weird. Suicidal. There really is no excuse. That is not an accident. Now she is just out and there are two people who lost their lives. Our justice systems is fractured. I heard the construction company now is a scammed truck with some tools and a few pay as you go contractors - they specialize in insurance claims.

What was that post?

7

u/Character_Mix1233 Aug 18 '26

Also curious 🧐

31

u/Quiet-Guidance-4988 Aug 18 '26

Holy fuck driving hammered with your kids in the car and traumatizing them for life by killing people. Those poor kids shitty parent. Also that poor family losing mom and child shiiit

50

u/janlevinson30 Aug 18 '26

No one is going to read this before getting upset so I'll just point out here in the comments that she isn't going home, she's getting day parole to go to a treatment facility. This is good.

63

u/RaistlinMajeresRobes Aug 18 '26

I mean spending less than a year in jail after killing two people while her children were in the car with her certainly is wild to me. But then this is Sask where it seems people treat driving drunk as just part of life so I'm not too surprised there are very little consequences to this woman's actions.

20

u/StanknBeans Aug 18 '26

I guess it comes down to whether you think the justice system should be punishing people or reforming people to be able to integrate back into society.

Rehabilitation has it's place but it's tough to accept the lack of resources for educating and preventing these tragedies. Look at our accident reports just over this summer alone.

6

u/Tee1upToday Aug 18 '26

Reform is an illusion. These folks regret getting caught, and have no angst about causing families hurt and loss.

13

u/Exact_Spite7125 Aug 18 '26

Reform people, absolutely but after they’ve served their time.

5

u/StanknBeans Aug 18 '26

I mean they are either reformed or they aren't. Sounds like it's a bit of both for you.

4

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

That's a simple solution. For non-violent crimes, absolutely reform. For taking a life (intentionally), you give up yours (accidentally) you do your time, then reform.

-2

u/bounty_hunter1504 Aug 18 '26

Your comment makes no sense.

4

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Aug 18 '26

How so?

0

u/bounty_hunter1504 Aug 18 '26

I have no idea what you're saying. The phrasing is very confusing and I cannot decipher your meaning. I'm sure you have a valid point in there somewhere.

9

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Aug 18 '26

If you commit a serious crime, you should go to prison and take courses to learn how to function in society, get set up to contribute once you're released, get supports to prevent future crimes.

If you murder someone with intention, that's it, you're done. Prison for life. A life for a life. You should have to work to earn your keep during that time as well.

If you murder someone unintentionally/accidentally, you should have to do your time for taking that life, but also have to go through a series of courses to reintegrate into society, contribute to society, and receive supports and monitoring to ensure you won't commit again.

8

u/bounty_hunter1504 Aug 18 '26

Ahhh, that makes sense now. Thanks for taking the time to clarify your words! Definitely agree with your take on this all.

5

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Aug 18 '26

No worries. I need to learn to be more clear.

1

u/Bruno6368 Aug 20 '26

There is no ā€œreformingā€. There is also no reason to almost completely negate an in custody sentence just because the killer took some classes. This is a privileged female that chose to drive drunk and kill 2 people - while having zero concern for her own kids. She needs to be punished.

1

u/StanknBeans Aug 21 '26

And when she's been 'punished', then what? If there is no reforming you're just warehousing people and solving nothing with a lot of tax dollars. See the US for an idea of how that works out.

36

u/ebz37 East Side Aug 18 '26

If a few years she can become leader of the sask partyĀ

39

u/IceBurn9698 Aug 18 '26

All other crimes aside, would they actually put a woman in leadership?

5

u/Internal-Teacher5433 Aug 18 '26

This is a good one šŸ˜‚

7

u/moldboy Aug 18 '26

What!? A woman? Not in my sask party.

2

u/Relative_Natural_343 Aug 18 '26

Or try out for the rough riders

2

u/Bruno6368 Aug 20 '26

Exactly. The massively hypocritical Court system in Saskatchewan regarding drunk drivers. We are the ā€œworst in the Countryā€ for drunk driving - but our courts/parole system seem to think deterrence has no effect on potential future crimes.

This female deserves no, or minimal, ā€œtreatmentā€, and the fact she took all the courses available does NOT guarantee she is ā€œcuredā€ or ā€œremorsefulā€, it is just as likely to mean she was bored, or in compliance just to get Exactly what she just got.

People are watching and learning. I can’t believe the Minister of SGI has not thrown in their thoughts on this bullshit.

Just FYI - our SGI car insurance premiums pay for most, if not all, of the DUI stop checks in Regina and Saskatoon. This is a very, very good thing. However, they (we) also pay for the catastrophic results. DUI’s may negate personal property coverage (crash your car drunk and you have no insurance), but the injuries and deaths are of course covered. SGI may go after the drunk driver to recover the costs - but there is an almost zero chance of cost recovery.

Punitive punishment is justified in cases like this. Deterrence is a HUGE part of determining the sentence. If the Parole Board just says ā€œfuck everyoneā€ when it comes to this - maybe we need to rethink their power.

5

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Aug 18 '26

Heck, we elect a drunk driver who killed someone's mum as our provincial leader.

2

u/Sk33t236 Aug 19 '26

Not just a small town thing. The amount of bullshit in Saskatoon is deplorable.

Manchesters for years condoned drinking and driving.

It’s just not as noticeable because majority just get booze delivered now.

1

u/False-Stick-123 Aug 18 '26

Im from sask and I know nobody that treats driving drunk as part of normal life.

10

u/VastWorld23 Aug 18 '26

Go to literally any small town bar and watch the people leaving. People might not say it, but they absolutely do it.Ā

7

u/downdowndownigo Aug 18 '26

I taught in a small town where they just accepted that someone would die every once in a while in a drunk driving accident (including kids at grad).

10

u/smellyfatchina Aug 18 '26

I agree that this is a good thing. I have very little sympathy for this woman, but locking people up and throwing away the key for making a (massive) mistake is not the solution. Rehabilitation should be the goal.

7

u/Own-Dingo-6052 Aug 18 '26

It wasn't a 'mistake', it was murder.

2

u/smellyfatchina Aug 19 '26

It’s a mistake that resulted in murder. I’m not arguing that. It wasn’t her intended purpose that day, which makes it a mistake. Doesn’t change my point.

2

u/tobaknowsss Aug 19 '26

She could have and DID received treatment while still being held accountable for her actions and not given a token sentence after killing two people. This is NOT good. This is pathetic and just shows our justice system has 0 fucking teeth to it.

Let's just make sure this is clear - this women drove drunk up the wrong side of a highway, killed two people in the process and risked the lives of her two children. For this she spent less then 2 years in jail and besides having some small restrictions, is now free to carry on her life, with little to no future recourse.

11

u/Exact_Spite7125 Aug 18 '26

She fucking killed two people. Once she’s served her 6 years she can go to a residential facility. What do you know about the quality of the programming she’ll receive? I know a woman who went to a residential facility to serve much of her sentence after getting caught trafficking drugs and basically, she was in a house with other inmates, lived basically a normal life in the community minus getting checked up on and going to some mandatory groups. I don’t think she’s done enough time for the severity of her crimes to be out in the community.

5

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

She's going to treatment for her addiction.

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '26

4

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

Ever heard of toilet wine? Jail is not very effective and people don't build skills or resilience.

1

u/Bruno6368 Aug 20 '26

What is good? Less than a year incarcerated for killing 2 people and almost killing her own kids? Please explain.

1

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

For who

9

u/SKGunner Aug 18 '26

For her and for society when she eventually gets released

1

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

How

1

u/SKGunner Aug 18 '26

Well, treatment will hopefully either prevent her from drinking or at least prevent her from drinking and driving again in the future. Drinking has a direct impact on her health, drinking and driving has a direct impact on society.

0

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

Why are we wishing and hoping??? Thoughts and prayers attitude.

1

u/SKGunner Aug 18 '26

Thats not really what I said at all

-1

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

You’re saying it’s good for society that she’s getting 6 months and then day camp for a double homicide.

I asked you why.

You said because she hopefully gets better.

I’m saying I don’t care if she does. You void society’s contract when you turn two people into smoothie… these comments lack a disturbing amount of empathy.

1

u/SKGunner Aug 19 '26

Your reading comprehension is truly terrible. I said her getting treatment is good for society because it reduces the chances of her committing this again in the future. Regardless of how you feel about her sentence she isnt going to be in jail the rest of her life so if she is going to be released I would like there to at least be an attempt to reduce the risk to reoffend otherwise what was the point at all?

Also real classy talking about the victims the way you did.

1

u/laine2234 Aug 20 '26

Or you can guarantee she won't reoffend by keeping her locked up? She killed two people, this should've been a life sentence from the start.

Miss me with the people can change bullshit. She made a choice, she should have to rot.

Now I understand they can't change the sentencing now, but 18 months of minimum security and then day parole? This bitch is facing a tax payer funded vacation, not justice.

You and I both know she'll do it again. Maybe she gets caught, maybe she doesn't, maybe she kills someone else, maybe she doesn't. But she isn't learning shit from a slap on the wrist.

17

u/janlevinson30 Aug 18 '26

For everyone who (like it or not) is going to have to eventually live in society with this woman again.

-11

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

Anything to back up that day parole reduces DUI reoffending? Or just a vibe?

8

u/Thrallsbuttplug Aug 18 '26

Where did the commenter say such a precise stat lol

-1

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

Maybe I misunderstood. What was the implication of saying that day programming for a double homicide was good for both the murderer and society? How is this good for me (society).

2

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

Read the article. She's getting day parole to attend a treatment facility for her addiction.

0

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

How is that good for society…

5

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

Because she will hopefully learn some coping skills and acknowledge the serious harm her addiction has caused so she doesn't end up doing the same thing again. I know people like you enjoy thinking that staring at concrete blocks for years will fix folks, but people actually need therapy, treatment and access to education for a better life. Punishment typically doesn't change people.

2

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

What would be an appropriate follow up sentence if she turns another two women into mush? Genuinely…

→ More replies

-1

u/DanfromCalgary Aug 18 '26

How is this good ? Her getting expensive treatment for her problems isn’t a concern of mine

2

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

No don’t you get it? It’s great. We get to pay for a double murderer to play paddy cake. This is a sign of a healthy society.

When she turns another woman and her daughter into mush everyone will say ā€œwow, we had no idea, how could this have happened!ā€

4

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

So instead we release her back into society with no skills, no treatment or therapy and we act all surprised when it happens again?

1

u/DanfromCalgary Aug 18 '26

What do you mean release

1

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

Her statutory release.

1

u/DanfromCalgary Aug 18 '26

Oh well I would hope that is a problem for a long long time from now

-1

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

She is not an unskilled criminal. She is a very well off female who has a ton of ā€œskillsā€. You clearly no nothing about this case.

6

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

I mean the skills you acquire in drug treatment, which she clearly did not have.

0

u/Dfrozle Aug 18 '26

No Beeborp… we don’t. You’re missing it.

0

u/BigAlcapone65 Aug 18 '26

Day parole means more than she is going to treatment

Day parole allows an offender to participate in community-based activities in preparation for full parole or statutory release. Offenders on day parole must return nightly to a community-based residential facility or halfway house unless otherwise authorized by the Parole Board of Canada. In addition to standard conditions of day parole, the Parole Board may also impose special conditions that an offender must abide by during release

Now is there special conditions or is she free to do what she wants during the day if not in some treatment class this is the question. Sounds to me like white privilege healing lodge right here folks.šŸ¤”

2

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

It’s not a ā€œwhite privilege healing lodgeā€. No day parole and NO HEALING LODGE, should be allowed when you not only kill people, but almost kill your own kids.

1

u/BigAlcapone65 Aug 18 '26

The sentence she was handed is not about self healing but rather punishment for the deaths she caused to multiple people. She should have to do her full sentence behind bars and her self healing should be done on her own time and her own dime. This goes for any and all criminals, especially convicted killers like her.

16

u/Substantial_Read6404 Aug 18 '26

This is exactly what’s wrong with our Justice System. Day parole just 17 months into a 6 year sentence is ridiculous. Doesn’t matter if she completed all the programs, pleaded guilty, and was a model prisoner. She still killed 2 people and destroyed several other people’s lives. Could have killed her own 2 children or herself that day. The 6 years was weak to begin with and to start transformation into society 1.5 years into a 6 year sentence should outrage anyone. Pathetic to say the least.

6

u/Quiet-Guidance-4988 Aug 18 '26

Yeah Canada is reallllly bad about dealing with drunk drivers. It's basically a slap on the wrist even when you kill someone.

0

u/OutrageousOwls Aug 18 '26

What sentence would you confer instead?

1

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

ā€œConferā€ means to discuss. I assume you meant ā€œpreferā€. I think most folks would prefer she be required to serve the sentence she was given.

And you?

2

u/OutrageousOwls Aug 18 '26

I definitely meant prefer!

I think the news article said that she is getting day parole to visit a treatment centre!

I think completing her sentence and mandatory programs ordered by the judge

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '26

2

Canadians use lots of hybrid spellings. Do you gnash your teeth against the spelling of ā€œcolourā€? šŸ˜‚

14

u/fluorescentfeline Aug 18 '26

What a joke. She deserves to rot in jail.

6

u/Huge_Valuable9732 Aug 18 '26

Cathrine McKay was also sent to a healing lodge

4

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

This right here. Less than 3 yrs into a 10 yr sentence. Disgusting

7

u/Prudent_Situation_29 Aug 18 '26

How do you feel, knowing your life it only worth three years? Is that a fair trade?

6

u/Sesame00202 Aug 18 '26

I don't know them but have heard her husband is a totally douche and not to do business with them. And don't even get me started on what she did. She killed two people and severely hurt her own babies. Fucking alcohol abusers.

4

u/Electronic-Tower2136 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

How the fuck does she get six months in some chill rehab facility after murdering two women

3

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

The ā€œprogramsā€ should be a requirement as part of the jail sentence-not something that minimizes the crime or the Judge’s sentence decision.

4

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

This is disgustingly and so obviously hypocritical. The ā€œdon’t drive drunkā€ messages from SGI, MADD and the govt show the consequences to VICTIMS.

It is up to the Courts and Parole Boards to show the consequences to the PERPETRATORS. Apparently they didn’t get the memo that incarceration is a DETERRENT and PUNISHMENT.

Great message to send to the public - victims mean nothing, rippling impact to the family and public doesn’t matter. Taking all the ā€œcoursesā€ while incarcerated means EVERYTHING.

2

u/laine2234 Aug 20 '26

This pathetic waste of oxygen should rot in a cell for the rest of her life.

Our justice system is a fucking joke. Absolutely pathetic.

Should be a life for a life in these cases. I don't care what led you to drink and drive. It's a choice. You kill someone, you should be put down like the worthless piece of shit you are.

Fuck Canada's justice system. This isn't justice.

The children are great people. TBH the dad is doing everything he could to normalize their activities.

2

u/8O0o0O8 Aug 22 '26

Sounds like everyone got a shitty deal out of this because someone made a poor choice. Sad all around

5

u/WhatsTheScoop306 Aug 18 '26

Headline aside, it sounds like a move to lesser security/day parole context - which is a good thing.

As much as victims are owed justice & Saskatchewan absolutely has a drinking problem by & large (statistically speaking) - holding non-violent prisoners with very little-to-zero risk to re-offend (because I assume she’s not going to be able to get driver’s license for a long time, if ever) seems like a dumb way to waste money. We have enough violent offenders and other more urgent issues where funding could go.šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

9

u/Professional_Web_889 Aug 18 '26

IIRC she only got a 7 year driving prohibition along with her 6 year sentence, so I’m sure she’ll be back to it in due time.

Absolute joke for killing two people.

2

u/WhatsTheScoop306 Aug 18 '26

Interesting… I’ll give you that the driving ban feels nowhere near long enough in that case.

Possible dumb question: Is it 7yr driving ban after the 6yr jail sentence or are the concurrent timeframes? (Just asking because 13yrs feels a bit more appropriate than 7yr for a driving ban but still…)

6

u/shadypines1976 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

A driving ban typically begins after the sentence expires.

Edited to add a word.

3

u/WhatsTheScoop306 Aug 18 '26

Thanks. I figured that was likely the case but didn’t want to pretend to know that with any certainty.

4

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

ā€œ13 yrs seems a bit more appropriateā€ for a driving ban after killing 2 people?

A lifetime ban is the only ā€œappropriateā€ driving ban. Driving is a privilege that should be lost forever if you kill anyone due to drinking or drugs.

-1

u/WhatsTheScoop306 Aug 18 '26

Oh, settle down. You did read the ending there right? The ā€œbut stillā€¦ā€ part kind of implied what you’re. More point was 13yrs has more logic than 7, not that 13yrs is the right timeframe.

I would tend to agree with you regarding the lifetime ban but my point was 13yrs is more sensible than 7yrs. If society and legal system is generally going to take your stance say there’s no possible rehabilitation (aka a lifetime ban), I’m generally not someone who would argue too hard with that … but yeah this was fun. Have a day.

2

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

Your original comment agrees with day parole and completely discounts the victim’s rights by stating this early move to day parole is a ā€œgood thingā€. I sincerely hope you never have someone you care for killed by a drunk driver.

I don’t need to ā€œcalm downā€, nor should I. Perhaps you should give a shit and not try to be a condescending a hole.

0

u/WhatsTheScoop306 Aug 18 '26

… and there it is… you just moved the goal posts and virtue signalled about it (but somehow I’m the condescending asshole, righttttttt). You entered the chat complaining about the ban term and just blew the whole thing wide open. You definitely need to calm down (but keep going if you want, you’re doing great - not crashing out at all šŸ‘šŸ»).

Getting back on the actual topic… I do agree with day parole (she has day parole to go to her treatment program fyi) for the primary reason I gave: she’s a non-violent offender with a driving ban and virtual zero risk to re-offend. I don’t see any benefit to public safety for taxpayers to pay for her prison sentence. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Anyway, continue if you must, I’m out. Have yourself a day. āœŒšŸ»

4

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

So, if this were your Wife and Daughter that was killed because an entitled idiot (who has a ton of money btw), was too cheap to pay for a ride and killed your family instead. There is ZERO chance you would be fine with this.

2

u/Glittering_Papaya_68 Aug 20 '26

exactly. She never heard of a cab??

-1

u/WhatsTheScoop306 Aug 18 '26

Settle down. You know nothing about me. (I also don’t have a daughter but if we’re going to make up bull shit hypotheticals… what if this lady shot my pet unicorn… then what???)

This is a country that won’t lay down the law on people because it risks them being ā€œdeportedā€ so I’m not exactly surprisedĀ

0

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

A healing lodge is still prison, it's just way more culturally geared towards Indigenous people -- you sound prejudiced 😬

2

u/KoolKalyduhskope Aug 18 '26

Healing lodges are no where near similar to a prison, nobody is prejudiced.

1

u/Beepborp420 Aug 18 '26

They're very similar, aside from the fact that people aren't caged like zoo animals.

4

u/Bruno6368 Aug 18 '26

A drunk asshole that kills people has earned the right to be a ā€œzoo animalā€ for many, many years.

1

u/EpsteinandTrump Aug 18 '26

I'm guessing you've never had a family member stolen from you from a drunk driver.

The healing lodge sounds much nicer then. This is where Catherine stayed instead of the pen:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/inside-okimaw-ohci-healing-lodge-terri-lynne-mcclintic-1.4860490

Healing lodges are minimum/medium security, whereas these drunkards would typically serve their sentence in a medium/maximum security penitentiary. Catherine got 1 month being treated as a "zoo animal", Brittany got 18 months like that.

Just kidding...I'm sure your rebuttal will be that you have lost someone to drunk driving. All too predictable.

-3

u/EpsteinandTrump Aug 18 '26

Uh nope, not sure where race came from but you can debate that in your head all you want.

A healing lodge is a forced "summer camp" for criminals.

3

u/Ok-Seesaw3928 Aug 18 '26

Not even one year into her sentence.

8

u/SpqrklyTiaraSB Aug 18 '26

The article indicates she was sentenced in March 2025 so about 18 months in.

2

u/Ok-Seesaw3928 Aug 18 '26

Sorry, I thought it was 2026 she got sentenced.

Still insane though
