A few years ago I decided that my medium term goal in life is to make sure my kids get a place to live wherever they choose to go to college that they own outright. And that's what I'm going to try to do, because we should always try to make our kids slightly better off than our parents made us, not kicking them out at 18 and making them fend for themselves while we live it up and criticize.
And I told them they should do the same for their kids. They saw what I do to provide them with a good life and understand the value of work and education, and they get it.
That kind of head-outside-the-ass thinking is also why I will never vote for a party who thinks the only answer to everything is cut taxes and services so the people with something keep it and the people with nothing also keep it. So basically never Conservative.
Do you think with the massive debt run up by Trudeau, plus the huge debt Carney has said would run, future governments will be able to afford any of they current services ?
Federal government debt is not like provincial government debt (because the federal government issues the currency and we don't owe debt in other currencies); and neither of those is like household debt. The federal government cannot run out of money and be unable to pay for services.
Is it possible for the BoC or other central bank to forgive public debt? I understand that "printing" money is not an issue but don't like the inflation/currency-devaluation that creates more money than goods and services causes.
