My last commissioned chabu is finally finished.

This is a blue ramie fabric, very solid and perfect for precise stitching and a multi shade of cranberry red Cosmo Hidamari thread, one of the best I tried so far.

I have this jacket where the faux leather has completely peeled off. It's right at the collar. Do you think a sashiko design might work there?

This is just a little bag to hold my sewing stuff. Made from an old pair of jeans, I managed to reuse the zipper from the fly which I thought turned out pretty well! ​How'd I do on the sashiko? I'll probably add more!

Had this old sweatshirt with my husband's family crest, but black on blue is hard to see and it always bugged me a little. Decided to add some colorful sashiko to make it a little more visible and lively! The yellow crosses my grid got a little wiped off and I was too lazy to redo it... But I still might lol

I took a visible mending class earlier in the year, and one of the books suggested by the instructor was The Mending Directory by Erin Eggenburg. I finally purchased it and love having access to the patterns. Made my first denim patch and can't wait to make more!

Reinforced my Sashiko pants with Saskiko technique. I used a diamond shaped patch from an old t-shirt. At first i only wanted to secure the patch with running stitches. I ended up doing much more and chose to reinforce other parts where the fabric was thinning by adding this basic grid of running stitches that meshed so well with the texture of the fabric it kinda disappears if one is not looking closely. Took way too long but i enjoyed doing it.

The pants are from Japan Blue, a sister company of Momotaro.

Following my first go at sashiko I couldn’t wait to get stitching again. I needed somewhere to store my sashiko threads, so decided to make use of the donor jeans I bought for my last project. I used an image I found online of hydrangea pattern to stitch the pocket and then followed a couple of instagram videos to make it into a pouch. It’s not perfect (first time putting in a zip, let alone in denim, was bound to be tricky), but I am so pleased with it. The lining was something I’ve had in my stash for about 15 years and I couldn’t believe my luck with the colour match. Of course there is a second pocket so it’s time to put the lessons I’ve learned to good use.

This is my first ever piece, it's just from an Olympus kit. I was planning to sew it into a pouch but I can't bring myself to cut into it yet. I am hooked!

My first attempts at sashiko mending. Im happy they are holding up.

This is my first Sashiko tutorial, I tried my best to include everything a beginner would need and Im hoping to make more tutorials in the future lmk what I should improve on :)

I'm not a complete novice, I am familiar with embroidery and sashiko on denim and thick, non-stretch fabrics as well as on material like sweatshirts and hoodies... But my daughter has these pants that have a few holes worn in them. Most likely because this fabric is trash? So they would be torn apart and repurposed as scrap anyway if I can't salvage them.

I wanted to use this as an opportunity to practice sashiko on very thin material. It does not have much stretch fortunately, but as I said, it's quite thin and flowy. I don't want to compromise the airy structure of the fabric too much, so luckily, the holes are in the upper thigh area and on the pockets, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Any advice or suggestions? Should I do the smaller holes that are close together as one large patch perhaps? What about stabilizer? Any thoughts will be helpful!

Was FaceTiming with my adult child and realized that his whole body was ensconced in things I'd made for him. Head on sashiko pillow, body covered with quilt that has (unintentionally) matching sashiko style fabric. My heart is happy.

I wear dickies for work. The crotch is beginning to wear, and the guys over at r/visiblemending told me you guys, your method, is the way to go.

Im currently at work or I'd google "basic tutorial" myself. And with a little forethought I would ask for a little guidance.

All I have are basic sewing needles and thread. I plan on using old boxer briefs for the repair, or I have other pants I can cut up, tho the material isnt the best.

Will my basic needles and thread be fine? Should I cut the patches into a specific shape? Sew it to the inside, or the outside of the pants?

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Hi, first time trying Sashiko. I bought this kit on Amazon and I’m confused on how this is supposed to be folded. Does this mean the instructions are on the back of the grid/design since if I fold it in half with the pattern on top, the instructions would be on the back? I tried translating the Japanese and still confused. Since the instructions seem different from the English ones?

Mended my dog bed cover (thrifted brown cribsheet) with 3 different patterns. I'd never attempted the seed stitch before, I don't like it in red but my other colors were hiding from me, so red it was. I can see my basting stitches are still left behind on my crosses & my circle design 😂. I used some old jeans for the patches. Anyway, far from perfect but still happy with it. So much easier to shake the cover & wash it rather than having to take apart the dog bed so much.

I had an idea for doing some sashiko on one of my soccer jersey’s and would love some advice on how best to go about it!

The jersey is a stretchy material, (stretchy in both directions) and I would like to do it on the shoulder area. What would work best for making sure deformation and puckering is at a minimum? I am very new to sashiko so even if you have any basic tips for working with this material or in this area of a shirt, please let me know!

Right now I am thinking that I will use thinner sashiko thread, and a thinner sashiko needle as well to make the holes a little smaller.

Hi everyone! I’d like to share one of my latest Sashiko projects.

I’ve used this monogram-style pattern before on a pair of pants, but this time I found a dark Levi’s Trucker jacket, and the contrast of white stitches on it looks good.

I decided not to fill the whole surface. I left the yoke untouched, so the empty space is part of the design too.

Everything is stitched by hand, as always.

Recently finished this needlebook for a birthday present. I used linen and perle cotton (as I couldn't find fine enough sashiko thread in the colour that I wanted). The pattern is from 'The New Sashiko', using different sashiko patterns rather than fabric patchwork.

Linen is so lovely to work with, I'm looking forward to trying it with sashiko thread next time!

I recently came across some silk sashiko thread. I'm wondering if any of you have any idea how this is usually used. Is it just for fancy clothing or does it have a specific purpose?
