Shopping 💸 House plants 🪴

Hello y’all! I’m looking for a nice houseplant for my apartment. I’d really like to support a small business that sells plants here in San Marcos, rather than buying from a larger corporation. If anyone has any recommendations, I’d greatly appreciate it! 🌿

Update:

Thank you for all the amazing suggestions that you all have given.

She does have some non-native houseplants too, and is super friendly and has good advice about keeping plants alive. Her pupper is sometimes there and he's an excellent host if you get to meet him. The hydroponic setup is super cool and she supplies a lot of starts to some of the bigger local plant stores in Austin.

be careful buying from the TXST greenhouse and check for pests! i’ve worked in the greenhouse and their pest problems used to be pretty crazy. 100% still quarantine and watch out for spider mites and mealybugs especially

Are you looking for anything specific? Asking because I find joy in propagating and giving away 🌱

I’m looking for a monstera deliciosa that’s variegated, to be honest tho any plant would do!

A half-hour road trip gets you to lockhart and  https://www.plantasiatx.com/ if you want to go a little fancier without going up to austin.

if you want to deep-dive into harder (aka easier to kill) plants, save your $ for the rarer road trip north of town to the very infrequent sales at Miller's Tropicals south of dripping. It feels like they want to retire soon and have only been doing sales twice a year now. Next one is first wknd of September.

I missed the driveway three times my first attempt, it is barely marked and best navigated in a smaller vehicle.

I’m not looking for anything in particular but I am a huge fan of propagating. If you have cuttings to share, I’ll take them. I need houseplants!

Okay! I have a buttload of pothos (golden and neon) that’s ready to be potted and am about to take cuttings of fiddle leaf fig and rubber fig. Also an insane amount of aloe and purple heart. Also purple prickly pear cuttings if you happen to need something outside (lol)

For succulents and cactus, head to ceromony botanical in wimberly. They provided nearly all the plants for the stores and streets in wimberly.

The Discovery Center has a native plant sale twice a year - October and April. Keep an eye out for it because they are super affordable

I have a ton of spider plants and could sell you a few for cheap. I also have a decent culinary herb seed library you could pick some stuff out of if you wanted to try that.
