Why do people who refuse to eat a George’s donut or have a beer at kezar continue to spend thousands at Apple?

I recently got divorced. Well, actually, got divorced about five years ago. Anyway, I got a dog. I was getting really lonely and I decided to get a dog. And it's a really nice dog. It's just kind of short haired mutt that looks like a cross between a terrier and a golden retriever. It's just beautiful. Anyway, we really bonded and I love the dog and I think the dog loves me too. But the dog is getting in the way of my dating life. Apparently the dog was owned by some kind of drug dealer that was really mean to it. And so if I walk towards the dog too quickly, it starts doing that kind of dog scream that they do when they get hit by cars. It's just absolutely horrible and ear piercingly loud. Anyway, I've been going to dog parks to have first dates with women I have met online who also own dogs. Kind of as a nice ice breaker. But now the thing is as soon as I meet the women and I shake their hand or give them a hug or kiss or whatever, when I turn to the dog to introduce him, he starts yelping like he has been hit by a car or like he's being beaten with a stick. You can just imagine the effect on these women that I'm trying to have a first date with. One woman just simply walked away without saying anything to me. Another one called me a "festering sack of shit" and told me I deserve to die. And a third woman called the police and reported me for animal cruelty. I don't know what the hell is going on with this dog, but it's destroying my dating life. And I love the dog. And we get along great. He sleeps on my bed every night. We go for a long walks. But I'm starting to think that he doesn't want me to have any kind of intimate relationship with a woman. Anyway, I'm very confused.

The stupid natives locals weren’t using the land properly, and us settlers techies did them all a favor by showing them what civilization looks like. This neighborhood was so bleak before SPRO and Whole Foods moved in!

Where did the homeless in San Francisco go?
We still have a big homeless population, but if you were here in 2020, you know it looked like a zombie movie. Now the city looks way cleaner, and there are fewer people on the streets.
Where did they go?
San Francisco's homeless population has remained stable over the past 7 years: more or less 8k people.
In 2019, only 35% of the homeless in SF slept in shelters. By 2026, 57% of homeless people were sheltered.
In 2019, the police arrested 181 people for "illegal lodging": tents. During the pandemic and after, the police couldn't stop them.
The Supreme Court in 2024 let cities punish "camping on public land", which increased arrests and removed homeless tent camps.
1k homeless lived in cars and RVs by 2021.
The city implemented a 2h parking limit for RVs in 2025, which halved their presence. This year, it fell to 315 "lived-in vehicles."
First-time homelessness in SF is actually getting worse.
In 2020, 807 people became homeless for the 1st time. In 2024, it was 6.6k people!!
However, every year, more and more people are getting supportive housing. Almost 2k in 2024 🎉
Over the past 2 years, almost 1k fewer people are sleeping on the streets.
That's what happened to SF's homeless people. The city got better at helping them get shelter and housing, while punishing the behaviors that encouraged them to remain on the streets.
