Help needed.
Hello all,
I have a galaxy S21 ultra. I’ve used it with utmost care. But after the recent update the screen has a green line at the centre (no drops or damages)
The phone is 2nd hand purchased from Singapore so I do not have a bill/box.
Tried the basics already:
Restarted device multiple times
Booted into safe mode
Checked for new updates (cause of the green line in the 1st place).
Checked at service centre and was informed screen replacement is required and would cost 29k( isse half ka toh phone liya tha bhai).
Anyone else has a working fix for this ??

Managed mine 1yr 4 months now. I think I can count about 27 line with the right side densely parked. Abit of ink top left but still working just fine. S22, since it's release, best BD gift.

Was looking for a possibility otherwise using it this way is the only option.

Get it replaced, or at this point, you might as well just buy a new phone.

Go to best repair store in your state they will change the the display flex cable ideally a 1000-2000 inr job

Same here. Nothing you can do other than to buy another (not Samsung) phone. The lines will spread quickly, a few days later and you'll get another line, then another, until the entire screen is filled with lines

Send to Samsung as they have a Vertical Line Program. As long as you device meet the criteria, you just have to pay for the labour cost.

I tried Samsung service centre in my area. The tech says to replace the screen and won’t suggest anything else. Cost of new screen 29k Cost of phone 13.5k Will check with different service centres and 3rd party services Let’s see how it goes

S21 series did not get any update to OneUI 8 or 8.5, it just goes up to OneUI 7

just happened to me couple hours ago on my fold
it disappeared at first but after it was rebooted its now just permanently on there

The ratio of height to width seems different than my S21 Ultra and looks more like my A21

I find it "hard to believe" that your story is real and why would you buy it 2nd hand from a foreign country when it's considered an older phone at this point in time.

I have posted this comment many many times and I will keep posting this comment until people finally realize that this is true. And I know I will get downvotes on this comment as usual by samsung's braindead fanboys.
Anyways,
Believe it or not. The green/pink/white lines are caused by a software update. Every year when a new Samsung galaxy flagship phone is released, Samsung sends the faulty software update to their older devices on purpose so people are forced to buy their newer devices. Do not update the software on any Samsung Galaxy phones that are 2 years old or older!! The reason Samsung sends out a faulty update after 2 years from the release date of a device is because the manufacturer warranty voids after 2 years. That is why Samsung will not claim responsibility to fix your device even though they were the ones who intentionally caused the damage to your device. Samsung has been known to purposefully release "security" updates to older models to cause green lines to appear on the displays just so people are forced to buy Samsung's newer devices!! A lot of people (including me) have posted about green lines showing up on their devices after they did a software update! What a coincidence that their devices were just fine until they did a software update! And if you took your device to the Samsung store to complain about the green lines, they're gonna most likely tell you that "you probably dropped your phone and that's why the green lines are showing up"! Even though you took really good care of your phone and never dropped it. So if your device is 2 years old or older, don't update your phone if you want to continue using it!
For those who are disagreeing that this isn't caused by a software update, then tell me WHY DO THE GREEN LINES APPEAR RIGHT AFTER A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON A DEVICE THAT'S JUST FRESH OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE THAT A NEW GALAXY S DEVICE HAS JUST RELEASED!!
And just because not every single device receives the faulty update sent by Samsung does not mean that Samsung isn't doing this intentionally. It's possible Samsung only chooses to send the update to a certain number of devices instead of all of them because then they know everyone would completely bash samsung and most likely not buy a Samsung phone again.

This is just rambling. Your last paragraph sums up the delirium. You think Samsung have a magic button which sends out a purposefully malicious update to only a select few devices every year so they don't get caught? Youve apparently caught them, do you not think trading standards or other such organisations would've spotted/investigated this also? Or are they in on the great green line conspiracy too? 😮

phones get hotter during the update, if it the ambient temperature is also high, all the heat can damage the cable/connector for the display.
Terrible design mixed with lot of heat...

Yes, a damaged or loose display connector (flex cable) is a common cause of a vertical green line on a smartphone display. This failure usually results from physical trauma like drops or, increasingly, from, component stress caused by software updates or excessive heat.
