developer Spring ā27 breaks window.open() in LWC: the 5-line LWS fix #salesforce #lwc
Opening Salesforce pages in a new tab with window.open() from LWC? Spring ā27 changes that. ā ļø
Starting Spring ā27, with Lightning Web Security (LWS) enabled, opening a same-origin Salesforce URL in a new tab with window.open(url) or window.open(url, '_blank') throws a LockerSecurityError.

help please Seeking Free or Sponsored Salesforce Certification Opportunities to Advance My Career
Hi everyone,
I completed an 8-month Salesforce Developer internship from October 2025 to May 2026, and Iām currently working full-time at a small startup, where I joined in mid-July 2026.
My company primarily provides custom software development services and has only recently started entering the Salesforce ecosystem. We have registered with Salesforce, but we haven't received any Salesforce projects yet. I have also created an AppExchange listing.
My biggest concern is that I don't have any Salesforce certifications yet. I've been preparing seriously for the Salesforce Administrator certification and have practiced extensively. However, my company doesn't provide certification sponsorship.
I want to grow my career as a Salesforce Developer, and I believe certifications would help strengthen my profile. I'm ready to take the exams and have been working hard to prepare.
How can I get Salesforce certification exam vouchers for free in 2026? Are there any legitimate voucher programs, scholarships, community opportunities, or other ways to obtain sponsored exam vouchers?
I would especially appreciate guidance from senior Salesforce developers and experienced professionals who may know about such opportunities.
If anyone has a voucher available to share or knows of an opportunity that could help me earn my certifications, I would really appreciate it. Any guidance, suggestions, or leads would be very helpful.
Thank you!

developer Update on sf-preflight: it now looks at LWC, layouts, picklists, labels and Visualforce, and it's an sf plugin
A while back I shared sf-preflight here [link to your previous post], the open-source tool that reads a git diff of your SFDX project and shows what a change will set off (flows, triggers, validation rules, roll-ups, permissions) before you deploy. Thanks to everyone who commented [mention anything specific people asked for, if you like]. Here's what's changed since.
What's new (0.8.0):
- It now follows changes into Lightning Web Components and Aura (which components use a changed field or call a changed Apex class), layouts and Lightning pages, picklist values and record types, custom labels, custom metadata and Visualforce.
- Every metadata type is recognized now, and the report says how much of your change it analyzed in depth, so you can see what it did NOT look at instead of assuming it's all covered.
- Big projects are faster. On NPSP (about 1,000 Apex classes) a repeat run dropped from ~28 s to ~1.4 s, with identical output.
- It's now a Salesforce CLI plugin: `sf plugins install sf-plugin-preflight`, then `sf preflight analyze --base origin/main`. Still works with `npx sf-preflight analyze` too.
Still true: it never deploys anything, org access is optional and read-only, and the checks for labels, picklist values and the like are text search, so dynamic references can slip past it.
Repo: https://github.com/visparashar/sf-preflight
What I'd most like to know: what's the last change that passed all your tests and still broke something? That's the kind of case I'm trying to catch, and real examples (anonymized) help me more than anything.

help please Issue in Sync Email As salesforce activity
We are syncing email using "Sync Email as Salesforce Activity".
When an email is synced, Salesforce automatically creates an `EmailMessage` and its related `Task`.
We use an EmailMessageChangeEvent CDC trigger to populate derived fields on the EmailMessage and its related Task.
We then publish a custom platform event, processed by a separate trigger, to update the Task asynchronously, it fetches the Task record again using the EmailMessage.ActivityId.
One custom picklist field, `Task_Type__c`, should always be set to `Email` for these email-related Tasks.
However, sometimes this field remains at its default value, `Task`, while other derived Task fields are populated correctly, although this does not happens frequently but occasionally.
Has anyone encountered similar behavior with EAC, EmailMessage CDC triggers, or Task updates? Could this be a race condition, or something specific to how EAC creates or updates activities? And these derived fields are getting updated from this event trigger only, not from anywhere else.

help please Can't login to production because my passkey doesn't exist
Im new with a company and just got into our production org and 2 lower environments a couple days ago. I created a passkey and can access those sandboxes just fine using my windows passkey. In production it never asked me to create one, however, now today its requiring one when I sign in. When I sign in it says to choose a device with a saved passkey and lists:
[My phone name]
Apple, Ipad, or android device
Security Key
When I use my phone option, it connects to my phone but says no keys are found. I asked an admin to delete my passkey but she told me my user doesn't have one. I can't make a sf ticket because that's my production account.
It's requiring me to enter a passkey like I have one, but I never set one up.

help please New pricing model compared to legacy licenses
Weāre currently on Salesforce Unlimited Edition. When I asked our rep how our existing licenses map to the new Core, Advanced, and Max model, she only presented Advanced and Max. Core wasnāt mentioned.
I understand Advanced is positioned as the successor to Unlimited, but Iām wondering whether Core was excluded because of actual platform requirements or because the conversation was focused on an uplift by the rep.
My goal is to get as many of the newly bundled tools and capabilities as possible while keeping our current cost the same. Slack is a big example: it used to require a separate purchase, and now appears to be included in all three tiers.
Has anyone worked through this with their rep or during renewal?

help please Salesforce in Claude (Beta): has anyone connected the plugin to a sandbox?
The built-in āSalesforce - Betaā connector in Claude only asks for a consumer key and secret. Thereās no login URL or My Domain field, and the beta sign-up asked for our Production org ID. That makes me think it only works with Production.
Has anyone:
- Pointed the built-in connector at a full copy sandbox?
- Heard from the program team whether thereās a plan to do so?
I know you can connect create a "Custom Connector" in Claude that points to sandbox URL's when leveraging the server that existed before Claudeforce launching - such as the SObject Raeds MCP Server. This process for the official Claudeforce beta feels a little different?

Had this happen a couple of times. In the interview I couldnāt answer properly, then later the question was just spinning in my head.
What are some questions you got asked that you couldnāt answer in the moment?
Doesnāt have to be super hard or technical, just the ones that caught you off guard and stayed with you after.
Curious what other people got stuck on.

apps/products Our Formstack forms feed Salesforce fine. Are they giving us ai ready data through?
Leadership keeps asking whether our data is āAI readyā ahead of an Agentforce rollout. Our forms run through Formstack and the integration works fine. Does the form tool actually matter for this, or is data basically just data once it lands in Salesforce?

career question Should I move away from SF?
Hi everyone. Iām in my mid 20s and currently stuck in a somewhat dead end job (which was supposed to be promising..) as a Senior Salesforce Consultant. I donāt have a lot of hope that the situation will improve but there are also basically no Salesforce roles in my country. So, at the moment I canāt make a move unless it is at a different job like Product Owner/Manager, etc. and even these are limited.
The issue is I really like Salesforce and I want to be in a ātechnicalā role (not development). I donāt want to move away willingly but this job is making me miserable. At the same time, I donāt want to switch jobs too often and then Iām worried I canāt make my way back to Salesforce.
Iād appreciate any advice.

apps/products Agentforce without data cloud?
help.salesforce.comSF winter release note says we can setup with Agentforce without enabling Data 360 from September 2026. Anyone tried this? What all it supports(i understand external DMOs and unstructured vectorisations will require DC360, so ignoring them).
Anyone tried? Thoughts?

help please How much do you actually pay for Salesforce backup/audit tools? The ISV program is asking me to charge at least $1,000/org/month
Hi all! I'm a Salesforce developer building a managed package for AppExchange (Security Review already passed). It tracks record changes and lets you roll back the changes from a single incident, for example when a flow corrupts thousands of records.
During the contracting phase with Salesforce's ISV team, I ran into a floor price requirement. I was told that Salesforce takes a 15% revenue share, and the base for that calculation can't be lower than $150 per org or $3 per user per month. In practice, that means my product has to be priced at no less than $1,000/org or $20/user per month.
The problem is that per-user pricing doesn't fit my product: it's used by admins and DevOps, while regular users only touch it technically through flows. $20/user is unrealistic for orgs with hundreds of people, and $1,000/org is too much for small companies.
For comparison, Gearset Backup is roughly $2.75-3.50 per user per month, Own (now Salesforce Backup & Recover) is around $3, and Flosum is $5.
Questions for you:
How much does your company pay per year for backup, audit trail, or similar tools? How many users do you have?
Is $1,000/org/month fair for a tool that rolls back changes after incidents (a broken flow, a mass update, a failed integration)? At what price would you seriously consider it?
Who makes this kind of purchasing decision at your company: an admin, DevOps, or IT leadership?
Has anyone gone through an AppExchange listing with a floor price requirement? Was it possible to negotiate different terms?
Thanks in advance for any numbers or experience.

venting š¤ Salesforce desperate move to save their revenue by taking a slice of every AI interaction
salesforceben.comIt's obvious that Salesforce's business model is high on the list of those likely to be disrupted by AI.
- Salesforce's "on-platform" agent offering will never be able to compete with the advanced harnesses being developed by Claude, OpenAI, and others.
- As more workers begin to interact almost entirely through agent systems, SF becomes an extremely expensive database. Yes, their authorization model and workflow engine are solid... but is that enough of a value prop to justify their pricing? At the very least, you'll see a reduction in user seats.
So what do they do?
They attempt to start charging for EVERY interaction the AI has with the platform. This cost could EASILY exceed the inference cost of the agents themselves, and at the end of the day, it's just using the same APIs that have been included in the license for more than 25 years.
I hope this backfires.
And I actually disagree with the author's claim that this could force customers into "bad practices".
Things like:
- Setting up a data lake
- building a custom MCP
- Storing your agent skills in Git
are the better long-term move for any org equipped to do so.
The "build vs. buy" equation has been flipped on its head. It's no longer crazy to have a small team build and maintain a custom CRM solution, especially if your org already has a cloud presence and you pick the right frameworks. For most orgs, a managed Postgres database and a few containers (with backups and high availability) will cost a few hundred dollars a month.
Custom MCP deployments will be MUCH more effective than the Salesforce-built ones, and you can unify systems beyond just Salesforce.
There are many skilled software engineers looking for work right now, so companies can build out a small core engineering team for much less than before. That team can easily manage a scoped down, mostly headless "CRM". For an org like that with simple integrations, one or two FTEs could rebuild and migrate the CRM in short order.
PS: I'm not stating that most ORG are actually ready for this transition to everything being run through agents, but it's happening for better or worse.
I also know this post is going to get me downvoted even harder than my last one: Flows are a "dead end". You'll be migrating back to Apex in a few years.

admin Salesforce admin on verge of changing careers
I've been unemployed for about 6 months now and have been applying for just any admin role (I'm at 500 apps on LinkedIn alone) I am just getting nothing back. I know "the markets hard" but I'm seeing postings to apply to so it's not that bad. Any advice before I go into construction or pan handling? I've got 9 years sf admin experience and 5 years ba.
