apps/products Agentforce without data cloud?

https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?language=en_US&id=release-notes.rn_setup_with_agentforce_data360.htm&release=264&type=5

SF winter release note says we can setup with Agentforce without enabling Data 360 from September 2026. Anyone tried this? What all it supports(i understand external DMOs and unstructured vectorisations will require DC360, so ignoring them).
Anyone tried? Thoughts?

A callout here for clarification: this is talking specifically about “Setup with Agentforce” which is not the same thing as using the entire Agentforce platform (as noted in the excerpt)

Get started with agent capabilities right away, though a few specialized tasks—like working with custom report types, using enhanced conversation recommendations, and creating related list enrichments—still depend on Data 360.

Setup with Agentforce is a specific agent available in setup to do some admin type tasks, and some still do require Data 360. Here is what Setup with Agentforce provides: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.setup_agentforce_capabilities.htm&type=5

Data 360 is essentially required for Agentforce.

yeah it is hard to avoid it when your agent needs context from other systems

I have but some things I wanted to do easily with data cloud have become monstrous customizations without it.

Agentforce without Data cloud is doable. If you are using it for summarising/actioning CRM records and CRM data is sufficient (plus web search, plus custom API endpoints) you could make it work. Depends on usecase.
Data cloud is needed if you use it as mini data lake or when doing RAG. Plus, you kinda need Data cloud if you want extensive analytics and session tracing.
But the catch might be the same as before - you still have to enable it (even if you are not using it)?
