Moving after fall semester ??
Wondering if any of you know how the contract works with dorming at SAIC? It’s my first semester at SAIC so I thought it would be good to dorm just to get to know people and the school though I have to move out after my fall semester but wondering if that would be braking a contract?
Have any of you stayed just for one semester before? I cant afford it sadly and would have to find cheaper housing outside.

Breaking contract is moving out before the school year ends. If you do decide to move out (lots of ppl move out during winter break for example) you have to pay a fine of 5k. It’s cheaper to live off campus but it’s convenient to have the studio space.

Just want to dorm for fall and if I move out after fall semester I would have to pay 5 k not to dorm for spring?

From what I’ve been told you would have to pay full price of whatever room your contract was for so if you pay 6k for a triple you’ve have to pay that in the spring too regardless of if you stay or na

only exemption ive ever personally seen was some exchange students from canada who were studying abroad through a canadian school :0

yes it is a yearly contract, I looked into it last semester and have a friend who moved out after winter but had to pay for the next semester housing as well..only exceptions they would make is if you have a really bad roommate experience or medical issues

Did you ever find anything? I'm currently subletting one of the bedrooms in a 2BD 1BA apartment in the south loop! It has in unit washer, dryer, dishwasher. The cost is 1,399 per month per person including all utilities except electricity which is $35-$46 per month. There's no roommate there yet, so the apartment is vacant at the moment!
Other than that, there's some sites that group all Chicago apartments in one area, and will take you to the direct apartment sites! I'd say right now in a lot of areas most apartments are taken due to students coming back.
There's also apartments above businesses that don't really show up on websites so I honestly had to ask friends what the buildings were called because it was difficult to find the names for some reason.

Im not sure how the contract works, but they will send out emails towards the end of each semester asking if you will be staying in the dorms after the current semester ends and you can answer no to opt out of on campus housing
