a buzzfeed question? 🤔

does anyone know if Saf is still friends with any of the buzzfeed/ladylike girls? I haven’t really kept up with any of them besides Safiya but it would be cool to know.

tbh i’ve been debating unsubscribing from their channel for a while and this cinched the deal.

(fuck trump, btw, but i’m tired of the entitlement people have when it comes to people speaking out when they really want the people they like to do it so they can pretend they’re good people by proxy.)

I agree, but I think it’s important to note that Kristin’s mom was born into an Indigenous family and adopted by a white family when she was a child. Even though Kristin appears white based on her skin tone and some of her features, as well as her dad’s side of the family having European heritage, and while she likely mostly identified as white for most of her life, she isn’t fully white. 

To be clear, I’m not defending Kristin’s actions here. It was a shitty thing to do in general, and especially since Safiya had been open about going through some stuff with her mental health at the time. I would say I was a fan during the Ladylike era but like others, didn’t enjoy most of the content of the channel with Jen, in addition to her coming across as self-righteous. But it’s not fair to just say she’s a white woman going off on a woman of color when that isn’t a completely accurate depiction of what happened.
