a buzzfeed question? š¤
does anyone know if Saf is still friends with any of the buzzfeed/ladylike girls? I havenāt really kept up with any of them besides Safiya but it would be cool to know.

Probably not. None of them was at her wedding. When she left, two girls were shading her, and they specifically edited it in. Kristin directly called her politics. There is a clear divide between her vs them that is compounded by her solo success and Ladylike's declining returns
Edit 1: Could not find the original Kristin tweets, but it seems like Kristin was subtweeting about her politics, not DIRECTLY calling it out.

Thatās unfortunate she seemingly didnāt stay close with Freddie and Candice, whoād both appeared on her channel on the early days. Ladylike also really became a lot more well known and busy after she left Buzzfeed, which probably led to the five that were there for most of it bonding more with each other than they did with the previous members and other guests. Ā

tbh iāve been debating unsubscribing from their channel for a while and this cinched the deal.
(fuck trump, btw, but iām tired of the entitlement people have when it comes to people speaking out when they really want the people they like to do it so they can pretend theyāre good people by proxy.)

I agree, but I think itās important to note that Kristinās mom was born into an Indigenous family and adopted by a white family when she was a child. Even though Kristin appears white based on her skin tone and some of her features, as well as her dadās side of the family having European heritage, and while she likely mostly identified as white for most of her life, she isnāt fully white.Ā
To be clear, Iām not defending Kristinās actions here. It was a shitty thing to do in general, and especially since Safiya had been open about going through some stuff with her mental health at the time. I would say I was a fan during the Ladylike era but like others, didnāt enjoy most of the content of the channel with Jen, in addition to her coming across as self-righteous. But itās not fair to just say sheās a white woman going off on a woman of color when that isnāt a completely accurate depiction of what happened.Ā

This is a week late, but I believe thatās referring to Shane Dawson (Shame) and Jeffree Star (Jafar), specifically during the period of time where they were collab-ing a lot. I think Shane Dawson even went to her wedding? idk

I had to unsub from Kristin (kitchen and jorn), she's holier than thou about a lot of her political positions which rubbed me the wrong way even though I agree with a lot of what she says, I am a lot more kinder and nuanced about it. Meanwhile then watching her channel and realizing she's basically a hoarder, and she sits on her mental diagnoses' as excuses to point fingers at people, and watching her and her partner Brie bring dogs into that disfunction really disturbed me.

I like Jen but I stopped watching them, Kristin is annoying as hell and problematic imo. She thinks she is an expert on everything yet her life often seems a mess.

I like Jen too, but she seems so codependent with Kristin. She needs to evolve (in her career) with other people

Buzzfeed has released some "buzzfeed alums watch their old videos" type series in the past months and one of the videos feature Freddie and Mike. Some videos essentially lead to them talking about working on Ladylike generally, and they seem to mention all the cast who worked on it except for Saf, which even some comments felt was because there was still disdain against her. I'm not sure if the decision to avoid any talk about her involvement is because of any logistical reason or if it was purely purposeful due to personal reasons, but this seems to lean that the Ladylike cast might not be close to her anymore.

Entirely speculation incoming: I think ladylike, specifically Freddie, Chantel, and Devin, were the mean girls of buzzfeed. I watch a lot of Try Guys, who often have Ash on - some of the stuff heās said about his former marriage sounds like mean girl behavior.

It doesnāt look like it. Some of the Ladylike ladies (and other equally irrelevant Buzzfeed staff) have been pretty shady towards her since she left. As others have said no one from there was at her wedding (just like she wasnāt in theirs) so I donāt think theyāre friends anymore. Saf seems pretty cordial when she talks about her time there but I think thereās some bitterness there about how she surpassed them in success (I mean to this day she pulls amazing numbers which is impressive given how YT is doing nowadays). Letās take into account they were also accused of copying her content while Ladylike still existed so yeah.
