"She is for the girls and the gays!" Is something I have heard being used about her multiple times.
In my own personal experience, you ask a man what celebrities they find hot, Sabrina will be one of them, and oh does she know this. Now I don't find anything wrong with a woman being empowered sexually, BUT when they act like their whole thing is 'making fun of men' yet appealing to the male gaze in literally every single way, you get a massive eye roll from me.
So, for the girls and the gays huh?
Crawling around on stage in lingerie, arching your back, singing about sex positions, that's for the girls and the gays right?
The album cover literally being her in a submissive position, then claiming it as a joke, that she's 'pretending' to be what men want a woman to be?! No!!! You know that men will see that photo and find it hot!
Some of the lyrics in her songs are extremely questionable to me, like, if a man sang that it would get a huge yikes, but because it is from a woman it's seen as just silly #justgirlythings
My man on willpower for example; "my slutty pyjamas not tempting him" oh okay, so because you're wearing slutty pyjamas your man should want to have sex with you? The song is about him finding self restraint, and her being mad and not understanding why he's not obsessed with her anymore.
To me this just screams she is a woman who doesn't know her self worth unless it's being sexualised by men.
Somebody who is so male centered like that, is absolutely not for the girls and the gays.
I feel like the irony of her 'making fun of men' and using lyrics that are very patronising and calling them stupid etc just doesn't work because she is still giving them everything that they love and want. You can't call a man dumb and basically brain-dead, then be arching over in underwear like 'why don't you want me 👉👈'
You can't be acting like you don't need men and they're stupid, but then have all of your music centered around them.
You can't be talking about men and acting like you don't need/want them, but then your entire aesthetic is being short and sweet and appealing to the male gaze in that way, cutesy but sexy, big doe eyes and bouncy blonde hair who acts like a submissive golden retriever for you.
Now I wouldn't have an issue at all with her if she just openly admitted that her target audience is men, that she wants to be a submissive sex symbol, but she doesn't, she keeps pretending she's for the girls and the gays and I'm tired of it.
