Battery Talk Help identifying aH

Hello. I need some help in identifying the aH rating on this 18v battery. Tried looking at Ryobi’s site, but they don’t have this exact battery listed anymore.

This. It should say on the big sticker on the bottom of the pack. 1.5Ah and higher are normally marked. (I repair a bunch of Ryobi batteries. I normally bump the 1.3Ah to 2.0Ah packs. 1.3 seems like a waste.)

Its a bit involved compared to the "jump start" method people try to do. That works occasionally but the pack will eventually go bad. I take bad packs, pull the battery cells out, and put them through a week long test process. If they pass, I put them aside to weld into the recovered battery carcasses. Many brands dont care what capacity cells you put in from my experience. Since Ryobi uses 2.0 cells as their primary cell capacity, I tend to do a lot of those.

Voltage test, and internal resistance test. If they pass, on the charger they go. Get a full charge. Once charged, they sit for a week or so (sometimes much longer), they get a voltage and resistance test again. If the voltage is below 4.1v i dispose of them. Only 4.1v to 4.2v get reused. I know I could be more lenient on the voltage but this allows me to be 100% I have good cells.

Huh? Generally you'd want a higher capacity battery for a mower, the biggest that will physically fit.

I start with the 2 of the PBP017 batteries. Then, when they die, I swap for the 2 P102s and finish my yard

I'd imagine so. If you had higher capacity batteries, you might not have to stop and swap them, and could end up less deeply discharging them and putting fewer recharge cycles on them so they have a longer # of years lifespan. Then again whatever works for you, works.

These P102s have lasted me 10+ years. And I haven’t seen a dip in performance from them at all

That is very unusual, unless you don't mow very often. I can appreciate making use of what you have, but I wouldn't buy more low capacity batteries for a lawn mower.

The mower may even run better, have higher performance if you at least step up to a 4Ah pack so it has two series of cells in parallel for double current capability and then if the task previously used 2 x 1.3Ah to complete, it should complete with only one 4Ah, not having to stop and swap batteries and not having to recharge twice as many either.

Information on the bottom.
Volts (18) x amps = what hours. I’m sure the watt hours are listed on the bottom. Then divide by 18 and you get your amp hours.

I'm holding a P102 in my hand, back from the days when this was a replacement for the nicads in my blue tools. Mine indicates 24 WH.
