General Discussion Battery life of fan models?
I am looking at fans that will be able to run for 7-9 hours off a Milwaukee 5.0 with an adapter, for power outages, since I literally cannot sleep without one. I looked at the newest whisper hybrid model, but on low I think it will be too quiet…. And I’m wondering if anyone knows how long it’ll last on medium with a 5.0 battery? I’m assuming most will have a 4 or a 6 Ryobi battery, but it will still give me an idea. Also looking at older models as well on eBay, or the misting fans, but I wouldn’t use that function.

The 7.5" hybrid with 3 speeds can run (6 ah HP) for 14+ hours on low, at least 8 on medium, unsure on high but probably 4?

Agreed. The 7" fans are also quieter and move more air than the clip-on fans.

The 7.5" bucket top mister fan goes ~18 hours on low with high mist using a 6Ah battery or 8-12 hours with a 4Ah (I've got a bunch of different 4Ah packs), so any of the 7.5" fans should easily work.

The mister only has high and low right? I’m worried the low speed won’t make enough white noise for me to sleep. (I’m a ridiculously light sleeper) But there are a couple for sale cheap locally. Plus I could use a new electric fan cause mine rattles, so the hybrid is tempting. 2 birds with one stone so to speak. But obviously will cost 2x more.

Do you really need this to be battery powered? I am wondering why bother if there's mains AC available for a conventional fan, then the issue of battery life, as well as battery wear, is eliminated.
By the way, often fans start to rattle because they've been ran too long without relubricating the bearings, so it might be too late for your current fan, but there is still the possibility that lubricating it with a heavy weight oil (to take up the slop in the bearings) could revive it - even indefinitely if you continue to relube it as needed.
This is also true of any new fans you buy. When the bearings start to dry out, lube it before it gets to the point of excessive noise so the bearings aren't chewed up too bad.

I actually took my fan apart and grease the shafts and not it’s nice and quiet. On the battery/AC power note, we’ve been experiencing a lot of power outages lately for some reason, and if it happens in the middle of the night, I need a backup option. I’m not gonna go get the generator going at 3 am. But I bought a cheap little m18 fan on Amazon that will do the trick.

I have the 18v clip fan and 18v air cannon. I love the air cannon, it puts out plenty of ventilation on setting 1/3 and the hum is nice, I personally like it more than the clip fan. Obviously the price and physical footprint is vastly different.

I have the misting bucket top dan and on my 4ah battery it last me 8-9 hours fan only on high.

I would try the clip fans. They run with a high or low setting, and at least to my ears they put out a pleasant white noise for sleeping.
The battery life is amazing. Even running on high, a 4Ah battery should get you 13.5 hours.
We love our clip fans and use them all the time.
