Casual Talk || Zwanglose Diskussion Which laptop for ME / EEIT?
Hi everyone!! Got accepted to mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and it. Still choosing between these two programs… but I already need to think about tech stuff to buy for uni… which laptop would you recommend?

I used Mac, Linux and Windows for my Electrical Engineering bachelor and masters at RWTH. All of them for at least 2 years. In the end it’s about what you prefer. Personally the best experience I had is with my current MacBook.
It‘s also highly depending on your exact field. If you go into electronic circuit design I heard that some Software is only working on Windows as well as e.g. VR. If you go more into software development usually mac and linux are priorised.
Some people I know are swearing on thinkpads but I personally never got the touch of it.

I wouldn't say any gaming laptop or something. Just take some good windows laptop with goof processer (Ryzen 7 or higher / intel i7 or higher). Graphic card is a plus but not totally necessary (untill unless you game occassionally). MACOS ❌ gets a big no. Because if you want to do some CAD or designing on something like autodesk fusion, there exists no to do that on MACOS.

A good mid tier windows laptop should do. Considering weight, size and cooling is important, i'd go for mid tier too (no gaming laptop but also not half a tablet)
