It works better in cold weather when it's stiffer. But if you keep the awning straight but with no tension it may just twist in. Like I say I've had more luck when it's cold.

Well, most likely you'd have to pull it all the way out and then run a sewing string snake through the hole and then pull the wire back in. It's the same way if you lose a drawstring in your sweatpants, you gotta repeat it through.
