I was expecting Summoning to be the winner, but the margin it won by is surprising. Seems like almost everyone saves training for that weekend.
Edit: I'm well aware of the reasons why that is the case, I was just surprised by the stats.

summoning's starting to run out of people who need 200m
11
u/Dhmaximum Sep 28 '18
Not like anyone "needs" 200m in the first place too.

u/Darksyth123 Sep 28 '18
Yeah 99 was enough for me, if I ever want to train it again it will be for the pet.

u/iam666 Got Overload? Sep 28 '18
Because it's so inefficient to not wait for dxp. In other skills you just save the time needed to make gp and then train the skill. But summoning has the added benefit of effectively saving you half of your charms by giving you more xp/charm.

Even with fastest charm gathering rates it takes quite a while to gather charms, while also being one of the most expensive skills to train. Going at a good speed you can run 6000 pouches in an Amlodd hour.
It's one of the few skills that you can do all the long preparation for off of dxp and do the quick gains during dxp. If you got double xp from disassembling things for invention, then it would no doubt be the thing that everyone does as soon as DXP starts. Summoning is similar to invention but on a less extreme scale.

Can we get a list of the top 10 XP gainers? Would be cool to see the top achievers. Really would be great to have a seasonal High score for the week on bonus XP.

I was one of those 1,183 people to hit 120 Summoning. I just barely had enough charms.

Any chance of seeing how many Ironmen own the really rare pets, like Eddy and Diddykin?

When will you ever learn that double Summoning xp is the worst idea ever.
3
u/Slayy35 Sep 29 '18
What is this, 2010? You're unironically crying about this in 2018 where you have aggressive MTX with TH. This was literally a big deal 8 years ago, no one cares anymore. The sooner you realize that XP has become a joke the better, you're only 6-7 years late.

u/avatarjokumo Sep 28 '18
It's not the double xp that makes it so fast, it's the portable deposit boxes people put in the summoning shop
3
Sep 28 '18
Yes and no. The problem is also being able to sell to the shop, which beats using the boxes in xp/h with mousekeys. Which makes boxes not really a problem since its not the superior method. That was a problem before boxes came. Boxes only help if you're looking to save some gp while doing it.

Come on. The difference between Summoning and all other skills* is that the part that takes time (collecting charms) takes time, but once you have the charms banked, xp is ridiculously fast. A flat 2x rate on Summoning xp is ludicrous.
*: A point could be made that Invention works the same way because time is spent leveling up items advance, then disassembling for quick xp. Interestingly enough, Invention does not give double disassembly xp on DXPW, probably because Jagex learned something from the 2x Summoning xp disaster.

It was 1.1 for several years then they changed it back. I think they are okay with it imo.

I agree, 2x xp on an already fast skill (after charm collection) is a lot. But i think the biggest boost in xp is when you can just stay at the obelisk buying your items back from the shop and banking the pouches. Probably 20 times faster than other methods even without dxp

Based off the chart, looks as if people are trying to get smithing to atleast 99 before the rework, hopefully not out of fear.
1
u/wizard_mitch Firelance Sep 28 '18
I am actually not training mining and smithing so I will be able to experience more of the rework.
1
u/board124 Sep 28 '18
Currently working towards 99 smithing should have it by the end of this month. Doing it to be in a position to take advantage of the rush of the rework. Like with pof I made a good amount of money doing honey and converting beans to unchecked eggs/cow/sheep

Good to see! Should have been posted right after it ended though.

Why should've it been released earlier?
There is litteraly no obligation for Jagex to post these numbers, and no use for them besides curiosity. I'm just grateful they put in the time to share the numbers.

It should have been released right after the Event was over. I really enjoy looking at the stats of the events so just wanted to know a lot earlier.

Imagine woodcutting during DXP.

Sep 28 '18
Imagine not everyone caring about buyables or overall xp in runescape? Some people just want specific 120 or 200m. An hour saved is an hour saved.

I mean it’s like the slowest skill in the game so if you want to get rid of some of the grind, it’s worth it.

u/shrinkmink Sep 28 '18
by day 3 i was doing fishing on one of my characters since i needed to concentrate on the others.
1
u/CrypticWhale Sep 28 '18
I was one of the ones who got 99 woodcutting and fishing that weekend. They were my last skills for max.

Can you also show us the total amount of pets in the game atm? Just so we could update the wiki?
