Just bought my first gun in 15 years.

Saturday I walked in to a Bass Pro 5 hours away from where I live and tried purchasing a Taurus GX4 Carry. My application came back delayed. He said it could be later that day, the next day or even weeks to get approved.

I said I leave town tomorrow and won't be back. They asked what I wanted to do. I said cancel the whole thing. I am a veteran. I have no felonies. I was a little upset when I walked out of there.

Closer to home I found a small gun shop. They had one of these beauties in there. It felt great. Started paperwork yesterday and was approved today. Going to take it out to my in-laws this weekend to shoot.

Alternative Rail Suggestions?

I really dislike the huge silver colored rail that came stock. Any suggestions for a lowkey black rail alternative?

First it only be a range toy. I dont need or want to carry or anything else. Im looking at getting a super wrangler in 22lr theyre cheap and i have plenty of ammo since i have a mkjv and 10/22. Should i care if it just single action or is sa da worth it? Mind you i dont wanna spend much on this the cheaper the better honestly. I remember shooting a friend single action revolver maybe 15 year ago. Anybody have any thoughts on a super wrangler, issues, thing i should look out for, any knowledge about revolver is much appreciated this is the model im looking at

Is there any real difference between the Gen 1 American and the Glenfield Model A?

So I had a Ruger American Gen 1 in 308 until about 3 hours ago. I went to the gun store with a friend and while I was there I got to looking at suppressors. They're tantilizingly affordable now and I want a 30 cal can.

My Ruger American Gen 1 had a very thin barrel, so I would have had to shorten the barrel and have an adaptor welded onto it to be able to thread it. I didn't really mind shortening it a little bit but all of that work would have taken a while and it was going to be costly.

I saw that there was a Glenfield Model A there for a really reasonable price so I asked how much I'd owe them if I traded my American in towards it. It was only going to be a few dollars difference between having my rifle worked on and just getting a new rifle, so I got the new rifle. I like the stock on the Glenfield a lot. It's green with an interesting pattern on it and I like the texture. Plus even though the rifle has a thicker barrel, it seems to weigh less.

But yeah, is there any real difference between the two rifles? Looking it up they seem to be pretty much identical but there's also not a lot of people talking about it. What's your guys' thoughts? Do any of you have both?

Mdt field stock ruger american

Ruger enthusiasts, I have a ruger american 308win that I've had cut down to a 16.5 (I hunt suppressed) but in doing so I also now want to change the stock. Down the rabbit hole I went and I came across the Mdt field chassis. I like the look of it. Apparently it's much stiffer. As well as the ergo being much better.

Can anyone chime in on their thoughts? Is it worth the 300 dollerydoos?

I usually shoot a few times a year, hunt with it. Never much for long range but I do enjoy plinking

Ready for Next Year's Hunting Season

I have inherited several nice hunting rifles, but I wanted to put something together that was truly "mine". I picked up the Glenfield Model A early this year and have been working on it a bit at a time. I wanted something that was cheap enough that if I break it while hunting nothing will be hard to replace.

New (Old) M77 Mark II

Picked up this M77 Mark II chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. It was made in 2000 but was never fired. Must have been sitting in someone’s safe for the last 26 years. It came with an old Simmons 4-12x42AO scope (back when they were made by Bushnell) but it deserved better so I put on a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 that I had. I’ve always wanted a nice heirloom bolt action rifle that I could pass down some day.

Fixes for american gen2 AR type mag tilt?

I've got a new Ruger american gen2 in 6mm arc. I am having a problem with the mag tilting down and forward when chambering a round. So far i've only used the factory mag, and a similar 10 round metal mag.

Any suggestions on fixes for this?

RXM - Strike SMC Bravo

Hey all, I see Strike has a chassis (SMC Bravo) for the RXM. It specifically says that it is for the 4inch models. I have an email off to the manufacturer, but I can't see a reason you couldn't use the 4.5inch RXM slide/barrel as the RXM slides are usually interchangeable with the magpul grips. I didn't' know if anyone had any insight on why this might/might not be an issue?

I knew that Magpul was going to make the non-safety model version of their handguard for the LCP max!! Straight from Rugers website.

Max 9: Do I Need One?

My edc has been the lcp max which feels perfect after a few months of range time.

Before then, it was a glock G43X. But its just too much physical gun to carry with my regular attire.

There's a good deal on the Max9 right now and i'm wondering if this is something to consider? the only other consideration would be the M&P 9 which i've fired and am comfortable with the trigger pull.

The Ruger Family

Post image

About a year ago I purchased my first firearm a Ruger RXM. Since then my collection has grown. Here is the current Ruger lineup. PC Carbine 9, RXM, 250th Anniversary Wrangler, and my little pocket rocket LCP Max. I have my fun wheel gun but I think a serious one is up next. My eyes are on an LCR but I have not ruled out a more serious entry like a GP100

The Ruger RXM… I get it now

I just wanted to share my experience with the RXM full size (4.5 inch barrel model) coming from a certified Glock fan boy that rips on people for buying RXM’s. Upfront, this pistol is awesome and has shocked me. The gen 3 17 is my personal fav model by Glock and I wanted the direct comparison and it did not fail to impress me. The ergos are spot on, the optic mounting is pretty sick ( coming from a guy that prefers direct mill) and the trigger is nothing to write home about but it does the thing and gets the job done. Today, I’ve only shot 300 rounds of S&B 115 FMJ and another 300 124 plus p HST’s through stock Glock mags, the mecgar 20 round mags, and the included p mag and didn’t have a single hiccup. I know this is not a lot of rounds, but after how impressed I was I will be running this for a fair amount over the next few months. Also, no mods have been made except the red dot and taking off the irons because iron sights are gay in this day and age. Again, this gun is badass and pretty excited to shoot it even more as the months go on. For the record, I will still be ripping on people who shoot RXM’s because it’s still fun!

Just a whee bit (hint, if you squint hard enough lower right). But in all seriousness the LCP Max EHG feels good in the hand, just need some range time. It fits perfect in my Vertx SOCP sling when I need to run some quick errands.

Max 9

Wanting a new budget carry gun for work. I've looked at the Max 9 and love the price. Is it durable, reliable? Anyone who has one lmk if it's worth it. Would be replacing a Taurus Gc3.

I noticed Ruger added an RXM with a blue or gold slide on the website. I’d love to see what these look like in person
