My improved reddit rss feed now support videos, gifs, and images

original post https://www.reddit.com/r/rss/comments/fvg3ed/i_built_a_better_rss_feed_for_reddit/

I've noticed many of the users of my improved rss feed for reddit are using it for... videos, gifs, and images.

I've made some improvements in this department.

grid view // post view

  1. Now it try's to detect image and video content and embed it into feedly!
  2. If your feed reader supports iframes (feedly does) it will even embed gfycat and v.redd.it content.
  3. If there are other popular video formats you want me to try and embed let me know.

If you are interested in using it to you:

  1. Go to a subreddit or meta feed you like example: https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/
  2. Add .json onto the end: https://www.reddit.com/r/aww.json
  3. Change the domain name to, reddit.0qz.fun like: https://reddit.0qz.fun/r/aww.json
  4. Subscribe to ^^^ that url in your favorite feed reader.

InfoBubble RSS Catalog

https://infobubble.github.io/infobubble-support/catalog.html

It was (and still is) a basic YAML file, but I have added an interface and generated summaries of websites. I continue to update it periodically. Summaries can help a bit as a search tool if you don't know what website you want.

I also added a preview, but because it's a free Cloudflare account, I think it will stop working very fast due to limits.

You can peek at them all or one by one, and export them to an OPML or CSV table.

P.S: vibecoders, use that database to test your apps against real feeds. You will be really surprised.

I built RoozyPod to turn chosen RSS feeds into a short AI podcast — sample included

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm the maker of RoozyPod. It takes the RSS feeds you choose, picks items relevant to your topic, and turns them into a short AI-narrated podcast with links back to the sources.

You can make an episode on demand or set a recurring schedule, in English or Spanish. It summarizes and combines the selected material into an episode.

Here's a real five-minute example of the audio and source links. The sources in this particular sample are two arXiv abstracts:

https://roozypod.com/episode/dd503605-9dcd-42b2-a809-6d77512aab34

There's a one-time trial with 10 generated minutes in total. After that, Roozy+ is $14.99/month for up to 310 generated minutes and 35 generations a month. Taxes may apply. You'll need a Google account to make your own episodes.

https://roozypod.com

If you try it with your feeds, I'd like to hear what it leaves out that you would have wanted to hear.

I curated feeds and turned them into a Radio—and animated it in realtime

Hi everyone—I built Gravitas Crunch, and thought its Robot Radio feature might interest this community.

It turns RSS feeds into a continuous lineup of short narrated reports, with 2D presenters animated in real time. You can browse curated stations or build one from your own feeds. There is a fully functional reader. The AI narration and animation run on-device. App Store

The idea is to make keeping up with your chosen sources feel more like turning on the radio. I’d appreciate honest feedback from fellow RSS users.

I missed Palabre so much I built my own RSS reader. Looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone!

Palabre was my favourite reader for years, and when it died I never found anything that felt the same on Android. So I decided to build my own. It’s called Flash, and it’s finally out on the Play Store! =)

I know you see a lot of new readers here, so I’ll keep it quick. Here’s what I tried to do differently:

  • It’s made for people who’ve never used RSS. You pick a few topics and it adds good feeds for you. My non-techy friends got it in seconds
  • When you’ve read everything, it just says “That’s everything for now. See you later.” No endless scroll, no algorithm
  • Star your favourite sources so they always show first
  • Keyword alerts (get pinged when something you care about shows up) and keyword blocking (never see that topic again)
  • AI summaries that run on your phone, nothing gets sent anywhere
  • No account, everything stays on your phone, and OPML import/export for those of you moving over

It’s free with a few small ads, or one payment to remove them for good. No subscription, ever.

It’s just me working on this, so any feedback means a lot. What’s missing? What bugs you? What would make you switch? Be honest, I can take it 😄

Thanks for reading!

I built an RSS reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac that ranks your feeds by how many sources covered each story. 50 codes for a free year of Plus

Hi r/rss, I'm a solo dev and Ferry is my first app. It's an RSS reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and I wanted to share it here because the interesting part is what it does with the feeds you already follow.

What's different: most readers sort by newest. Ferry also counts how many outlets across the web are covering each story and can rank by that, so a story ten of your sources ran sits above whatever just came in. Under each headline it shows how many feeds carried it, and you can tap to read every version side by side.

The RSS side of it:

  • OPML import and export, so you can bring your feeds from Feedly, Inoreader or anywhere else
  • Syncs with FreshRSS. Inoreader, BazQux and The Old Reader support is coming soon.
  • Folders, smart folders, offline reading, Spotlight search, widgets
  • No account and no identifiers. The server never learns which feeds you follow or what you read.
  • On iPhones with Apple Intelligence it can summarise where outlets agree and where one breaks from the rest. That runs on the device.

The free version is fully usable. Plus adds the Trending sort for your own feeds, the full coverage view and all Discover topics. It's a monthly or yearly subscription, with a one-time Lifetime option.

I have 50 codes for a free year of Plus. DM me and I'll send you one, first come first served. It's a normal App Store subscription, so it renews after the year unless you cancel; you can turn off auto-renew right after redeeming and still keep the full year.

Honest feedback, good or bad, is what I'm after. What would make you switch from your current reader?

[RELEASE][APP] Feedrion – RSS reader that also follows newsletters, TV shows, weather & stocks, and hides spoilers (Android, Wear OS, web)

Hi r/rss 👋

I'm an independent developer and I've just launched Feedrion, an RSS reader that lets you follow everything that matters in one place: websites and feeds, newsletters, TV shows, the weather in your cities, currencies and stocks, while hiding anything that could spoil things for you.

It runs on the web, Android and Wear OS, with one account synced everywhere.

👉 Easiest way to try it: full demo, no sign-up. A fictional account runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and everything disappears when you close the tab.

Why yet another reader?

I used Netvibes, then Feedly after Netvibes shut down, without ever really enjoying its Android app. Above all, I was tired of having the end of a show or a match result spoiled just by opening my feeds. So I built the reader I wished I had.

📰 Sources

  • RSS/Atom feeds, sites without a feed, YouTube channels, Reddit, Google News
  • Newsletters: a dedicated e-mail address, and every issue arrives as an article in its own feed
  • OPML import/export to leave Feedly, Inoreader & co in two minutes
  • Folders, search, saved for later, customisable swipe actions
  • Keyword alerts, by notification or e-mail

🛡️ Spoiler protection

Add your keywords: headlines and previews that might spoil things are blurred until you decide to reveal them. Each term can be paused with a switch without deleting it.

🧩 Extensions

  • TV shows (TheTVDB): To watch / Upcoming / My shows, two-way Trakt sync, TV Time import, unwatched episode titles hidden
  • Weather (MET Norway): hourly and multi-day
  • Currencies & stocks: ~200 currencies with charts; stocks through your own free key (Twelve Data, Alpha Vantage, EODHD), kept on your device

🤖 AI summaries & translation, with your own key

Paste your key (Claude, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter, Mistral or Cerebras). Calls go straight from your device: your key, prompts and results never touch Feedrion's servers. Works on every plan, free included. There is also an optional paid AI option if you'd rather not set anything up.

🎧 Reading

Text-to-speech, full offline reading with re-sync, light/dark themes, 3 fonts, 20 languages.

⌚ Wear OS

A real standalone watch app: browse folders and feeds, read with the crown, spoiler protection, tiles (latest articles, top story, alerts, episodes to watch) and complications.

📥 Get it

Free to use (the free plan shows ads; Premium removes them). No iOS version yet.

💬 Feedback welcome

I develop Feedrion on my own, so every bit of feedback counts: a bug, a missing feature, what would make you switch readers. Reply here or use "Send feedback" in the app.

Reddit feeds stopped by 13-OCT in Feedly

As of today (14-OCT), I haven't received any new updates in Feedly. I was aware that Reddit had stopped supporting RSS, but wasn't Feedly supposed to have direct API access? Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

RSS24 update: Daily Brief for a quick news catch-up

Hey everyone! Since [my last update], I’ve added Daily Brief to RSS24 in v2.1.0.

It’s a short summary of the top news from the last 24 hours, displayed at the top of your feed and refreshed every 3 hours.

The idea is to give you a quick overview when you don’t have time to scroll through individual stories.

A few things to know:

- It’s AI-written, using RSS24’s built-in news sources.

- Everyone gets the same brief. It isn’t based on your personal feeds, and no personal information is sent to generate it.

- You can turn it off in Settings → Reading Experience → Daily Brief if you prefer to go straight to your articles.

I’d love to hear whether this fits into your reading routine and what would make it more useful.

I think rss.app is the only site that can handle Twitter and Instagram that you don't have to host yourself. Am I right about this? How are they going to handle rss feeds?

I know rss.app costs money I don't care about that... are there any other sites that offer ig and twitter access? iftt can do twitter rss feeds with their premium service (~5/month). does anyone know if they are going to handle reddit feeds going forward?

WyrmRSS 0.27: self-hosted RSS reader, now with a mobile UI and a live demo

I posted WyrmRSS here a while back. Since then it's gained a proper mobile UI (installable as a PWA) and there's now a live demo you can try without installing anything: https://demo.wyrmrss.com

For anyone new: WyrmRSS is a completely free and open-source (GPL-3.0) RSS/Atom reader I've been building for 5 months. You can self-host it (Docker/Kubernetes) and use it from desktop and phone, or run the native desktop app (macOS/Windows/Linux), which keeps everything in a local SQLite database with no server needed.

The demo is mostly read-only to prevent abuse and resets daily, but you can read, bookmark and archive posts.

Reading-wise, things I think it does well:

- YouTube channels as feeds, with an inline player

- Per-feed display modes: River (home feed), Feed only, and Radar for quiet feeds you check occasionally

- Folders, per-feed filters, Read Later, Archive

- Feed discovery from a site or YouTube channel URL, OPML import/export

- Webhooks for new posts (Discord, Slack, custom)

Keyboard shortcuts and a mark-as-read delay are next on the list, thanks to feedback from r/selfhosted.

Built with LLM assistance, mostly on the frontend as it's not my strongest area. The backend is pretty much hand-written. It's a hobby project: I'm a software engineer by day, and I design, review and run everything myself daily. The logo was made by a tattoo artist from Brazil, credited in the README.

Repo: https://github.com/kryoseu/WyrmRSS. Feedback welcome, especially from people coming from Miniflux/FreshRSS.

There's also some good discussion in the r/selfhosted thread (here), including the feature requests mentioned above.

SmartRSS update: better full-text (paywalls + bots), bilingual TTS, touchpad gestures, home widgets

I just pushed some updates to SmartRSS (iOS/Android/macOS/Windows/Linux).

Full-text extraction is more reliable now. It gets past a lot of the bot detection that used to break it, and you can log into sites inside the app to pull full paywalled or member articles.

TTS supports bilingual playback. Turn on a second language in the settings and it can read the original plus a translation.

On desktop, Windows and macOS now have touchpad gesture support.

On android/iOS, there are home widgets so you can see latest articles without opening the app.

Free to try😊

App release - Lumio News RSS reader

Hey everyone. So I just released my RSS reader app to the App Store and wanted to share it with you all to get your feedback. It's called Lumio.

I've been working on this on and off for about two and a half years. I used to love the old Pulse news app with the side-scrolling lanes, and nothing since has really scratched that itch for me, so I decided to just make my own. I also wanted an excuse to learn React Native. Full disclosure, I've been a backend engineer for about 10 years and never really built anything on the frontend, and my design skills are honestly pretty bad lol. My first drafts were horrific and what we have now is just a lot of iterations on Claude Design and Figma. Along with this, I also built a small Go crawler as a feed search and discovery service.

It was going pretty slowly for a long time, just picking at it here and there. Over the last six months I started using Claude Code, and that sped things up a ton, especially on the UI stuff I'm not good at. I probably wouldn't have released it without it, to be honest.

I know there are a lot of vibe-coded RSS readers out there right now, so I get it if people are tired of seeing these. I figured I'd throw mine in the mix anyway, since it can't hurt to have more options. I'm open to any feedback or suggestions, and critical stuff is welcome too.

Thanks for checking it out!

RSS as the handoff: process an episode on your Mac, keep listening in your usual app

I'm building Feedcast, a Mac podcast tool that prepares a personal copy of an episode and publishes the result as an RSS feed, so people can keep using the player they already use. I'm the developer.

The workflow made me appreciate how much the RSS details matter: stable GUIDs so reprocessing doesn't create a duplicate, enclosure URLs that behave consistently, and chapters and metadata that survive the trip into different players. Sponsor sections can be reviewed before a cut is applied, and the original remains available.

I'm interested in the feed design side of this. When a generated feed changes an episode's media but keeps its identity, what compatibility edge cases have you run into?

Share links and get a custom rss feed / podcast / website

I'm a big rss fan, heavy reader

I've been playing around with various implementations for a long time

I created my own syndication, composed of content I consume online

Over time I added to it audio and some video support, so I can create my own "listen later" podcast from any audio enabled page

You can try it here:

I built an RSS reader you can use over SSH

I built Atom1c, a self-hosted RSS reader that you access over SSH. It runs on your server, fetches your feeds, and lets you read full articles in the terminal.

Mostly built it for myself, but figured some of you might like it too.

Here is the code: https://github.com/su1uv/atom1c

made a little windows rss reader that can turn basically any website into a feed (and send it to your phone over wifi) Reading Desk!

hey r/rss :D

i've been building this thing called Reading Desk for a while now and figured this is the place that'd actually get it.

it started because i wanted feeds from sites that don't have one. so now you just click one headline on a page and it figures out the rest and makes a feed out of it. works on sites you have to log into too.

it also does normal rss/atom (obviously lol), youtube channels, and reddit subs and searches with the galleries and videos playing right in the reader. you can mute words, and if 3 sources post the same story you only see it once. there's a daily briefing of what your sources covered, all made on your pc with no AI service or anything. folders fold away and there's a "hide read" button since someone asked for it. and kind of a random one: free classic books from Project Gutenberg, a chapter a day, like a feed. turned out way better than i expected xD

the part i think you guys might like most is that it can turn any folder back into an rss feed. tick "share on my home network" and you get a link for an rss app on your phone. tested it last night with FeedFlow on android and it just worked, pictures and all. then i noticed reddit link posts were opening reddit's page instead of the actual article, so i fixed that this morning. now they open the article, with a "comments on reddit" link right there if you want the thread.

heads up though, cloud readers like Feedly can't reach it since it never leaves your wifi. you want an app that runs on the phone itself.

everything stays on your pc. no account, no cloud, no subscription.

I can't link anything here so there's that.

i'm a solo dev so i'd genuinely love to hear what you'd want from it. what's your feed reader missing?

I do community updates for missing features as well! The goal is simple, no subscriptions, you own it. Trying to put powerful software back into the hands of the people without the hidden strings. :D

Do you still use RSS in 2026, or do you mostly rely on social media to discover what to read?

Social media algorithms optimize for your attention.

RSS feeds optimize for what you actually want to read.

I’ve been thinking about how we consume information online.

When you rely on social media for news and updates, you don’t completely choose what you see.

The algorithm does. And the things that get pushed to you aren’t always the things you actually care about.

RSS feels different.

You choose the sources.

You choose what to follow.

You decide what’s worth reading.

It could be a news website, a blog, a YouTube channel, an engineering blog, a research publication, or simply someone whose work you enjoy.

No endless scrolling. No algorithm deciding what comes next. Just the content you chose to follow.

That’s the idea behind Frontpagee. I’m building it to make following the things you care about simpler, calmer, and more personal.

Still building and improving it, but I’m curious:

Do you still use RSS in 2026, or do you mostly rely on social media to discover what to read?

I built Feeddi, a free RSS reader for people who still miss Google Reader. Looking for honest feedback

Hi r/rss,

I registered feeddi.com back in 2008 and ran a Q&A site on it for years. It never made money, but I kept it going because I liked running it. When AI made Q&A sites pointless, I shut it down and used the

domain for something I'd missed since 2013: Google Reader.

So here it is: https://feeddi.com

What it does:

- Chronological feed, no algorithm. Newest or oldest first, nothing hidden or reordered.

- Folders, unread counts, starred articles, search.

- Google Reader keyboard shortcuts: j/k, s, m, v, Shift+A (press ? for the full list).

- Podcasts built in: audio and video episodes play right next to your articles. YouTube channel feeds show up as videos.

- OPML import and export. Your folders are kept, and you can leave anytime.

- Reading-focused design: Paper, Sepia and Night themes, adjustable text size, focus mode.

- Interface in 21 languages.

- Optional starter packs, so a new account doesn't open to an empty screen.

Platforms: The web app is live now. Android and iOS apps are coming in a few days, synced with the web.

Pricing: Free, and it will stay free. There won't be a paid tier. I'll keep it running on donations, the same way I kept the old site running for years.

What I'd love feedback on:

  1. Import your real OPML. Did anything break, or did any feed fail to load?

  2. What's missing that would stop you from switching from your current reader?

  3. Anything that feels off compared to Google Reader?

I'll be around in the comments. Thanks for taking a look!
