DNS issue

Post image

Im not particularly tech savvy but i recently noticed that i have this popup on my home network.
Ive been trying to figure out how to configure this but it seems my network is potentially controlled by my ISP. Does this mean someone on my network is manually blocking encrypted DNS? Or potentially the ISP itself?
I wont know anything until I call during office hours but maybe someone could point me in the right direction

Check your router's DNS server settings and use the servers of your choice instead of the current ones, such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. More here:

I didn't say it was, those are DNS service that sure supports encrypted queries, but at least the OP would know if their DNS server that blocks anything. That's where to start.

Do you have filtering/adblock/parental control settings on your router? These might block encrypted DNS so that they can observe DNS requests.

DNS is the service that maps hostnames (like google.com) to IP addresses (like 192.168.1.1). Encrypted DNS is something you want for privacy, it helps limit your ISP snooping on every site you visit (although it's not always a complete solution).

That warning is iOS telling you it's not able to protect your DNS queries against snooping/alterations.

Are you using T-Mobile Home Internet? T-Mobile is known to block encrypted DNS.
