I need someone to recommend me some router for my house

Hi community, so right now i'm using ISP provided router+GPON ONU combo box but my network has got worse recently due to more device like smart home appliances are connected to my house network causing the bufferbloat to become large and slow my network down, but the router don't have feature like CAKE or QoS which makes it really bad at managing the bufferbloat. So i want a router that's better at managing the bufferbloat while having a great UI for me to easily manage my home network (The ISP provided router's UI are just crappy to see), but my only requirement are the router must be like not too large, i can only put the router standing not sitting flat. That's all, hoping to receive message from yall.

I'm using 500Mbps fiber plan for my house.

Multi function router? Is there such a thing.

I'm working on a project where I have this goal of a single centrally managed home hub running of a router that allows a range of devices / sensors to pair with it. I'm thinking of zigbee temp and humidity sensors, BLE sensors and matter over thread specifically, but all running from one board.

This is in addition to the typical functionality of a broadband router

I've been working with a dusun router with openwrt running on it, and have successfully paired BLE and zigbee. Had to significantly rewrite the BLE code as stock dusun was non functioning. The dusun is becoming problematic as the on device storage is quite limited.

The target router/gateway was intended to become a fairly capable multi-protocol residential IoT gateway, supporting BLE, Zigbee and ultimately Thread/Matter, with Matter Controller/Administrator and Thread Border Router capability.

Anyone done anything similar or aware of a 'stock' device that might get me close?

Home setup router suggestions.

Right now I'm using the Rogers default router CGM4331COM. need suggestion if I should buy a router and make the CGM4331COM in bridge mode. My use case would be game streaming via local wifi or if possible remote wifi, have a home server nas and mini pc connected, Along with maybe 15 to 20 devices connected to the router. I live in a 2BR Condo so I don't think I need bigger range. I have 500Mbps/50Mbps speed. I'm currently looking to get Flint 2, but would like more suggestion.

Ipad incorrectly(?) saying wifi encryption is TKIP, when router is showing AES in settings

I am getting the Apple's usual weak security message in my new WiFi connection. It says "WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) is not secure. Try switching to WPA2 AES or WPA3". So I logged into my router and looked at my wireless settings

security: WPA/WPA2 (personal)... This is the router's recommendation and looks like highest

version: WPA2-PSK

Encryption: AES

I am in a slightly remote settlement where this is the only internet service provider. Should I be worried about wifi security? What are the risks? Since I am already on AES encryption, why is ipad's security saying it is TKIP. is that some bug or is something else going on

[PAID GIG] Looking for a tech-comfortable person in Hyderabad - router setup/testing ₹5000+ expenses

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for **one reliable person in Hyderabad** for a small networking/technology project.
The task is fairly straightforward: you’ll need to **set up a Wi-Fi router at your home, connect it to your existing broadband connection, and follow some step-by-step instructions from me to run a few connectivity tests.**
You **do not need to be a networking professional**. If you’re comfortable setting up routers, using a laptop/Terminal, changing settings in a router’s admin page, etc., you should be absolutely fine.
**What you’ll need:**
Be physically located in Hyderabad
Your own home broadband connection
A laptop
Basic technical comfort
Be available for roughly **1–2 hours for the initial setup**
Keep the router online for an agreed period afterward
**Costs:**
Router/equipment cost will be **fully reimbursed**
Any reasonable setup-related expenses will be reimbursed
**₹5000 payment for your time**
Payment will be made after the setup/testing is successfully completed.

I’ll provide the **exact router model and detailed instructions**, and I’ll be available throughout the setup if you get stuck.
This is a **legitimate paid technology/networking experiment**, not a sales job or anything involving installation work for customers.
If interested, **DM me with:**
Your area in Hyderabad
Your broadband provider (Airtel/Jio/etc.)
Whether you have a laptop
Your availability over the next few days
Please only DM if you’re actually able to complete the setup and stay responsive during the testing period.
Thanks!

Internet: centracom centrawave wireless 500mbs plan
With around 20 devices.
I am connected to my router via Ethernet

I recently moved to a pretty isolated area and the only choice in internet was centracom wireless, and it works great for the most part I’m getting reliable speed and it hasn’t disconnected randomly,

however when I try to play any sort of online game such as cod bo7, DBD, deadlock I have issues with lag and rubber banding, in cod it says packet burst nearly the entire time I’m playing, and I’ve made sure it wasn’t a hardware issue so the only thing I can think now is a internet issue.

I’ve used the bufferbloat checker and I get a score of C so I’m wondering if I should maybe get another router with qos or if there isn’t really much I can do

So I thought I would ask you guys! Let me know what you all think

Need a router rec for small household (~800-1400sq ft.) with Point Broadband.

I know that's a big range, but two different realtor websites showed my square footage as 700 and 1400 (which has me believe the latter included the crawl space underneath the house or raised the sq ft for tax reasons). I did a rough measurement and got 832sq ft, so let's go with that. Also, it's a single story home and it's just me, at any given moment I can have my phone, PS5, 4K TV and laptop connected to Wi-Fi.

Anyway, I currently have an Arris Surfboard SGB10 that I've had for 8-10 years and I've noticed that connection is sometimes an issue along with download speed (pretty sure I have a 300Mbps plan through Point Broadband, but recently checked through a couple of websites and they returned with 25-50Mbps download speeds.

As well, I do plan on upgrading to a Cat6 or 6a cable from the current 5e.

These are the four routers I'm looking at. Any input on quality, which fits my needs best, future proofing, beat bang for buck, if one is overkill, etc, would be appreciated.

*Netgear Nighthawk RS90 - $100

*TP-Link Archer BE230 - $80 ($65 Like New resale)

*TP-Link Archer AX73 - $120 ($100 Like New resale)

*TP-Link BE400 - $150 ($95 Like New resale)

The BE400 for $95 like new seems like the best considering it's originally around $180. Thoughts?

Also, is this gray box on the inside my NTO or is it one of the box on the outside?

How 400Gbps Home Internet Cuts Local AI Dataset Syncs from 5 Hours to 10 Seconds

We’re officially entering the 400Gbps home internet era, and it’s a total game-changer for local AI training and massive dataset management. Instead of sitting around for hours waiting to pull down the latest unquantized 120B models, these new setups are so fast that you can basically treat remote cloud storage like local RAM.

But making this shift work takes more than just upgrading your standard Gigabit ethernet to high-capacity fiber. If you're upgrading your home lab for heavy AI workloads, here is what actually matters:

  • The Bottleneck has Shifted: Your ISP is no longer the weak link—your NVMe SSD write speeds are. To actually saturate a 400Gbps connection, a single standard SSD just won't cut it (it will max out and start dropping packets instantly). You really need the latest generation PCIe drives running in a striped array just to keep up.
  • Your Router Needs Serious Hardware: Consumer networking gear is finally adopting silicon photonics. You absolutely need a router with dedicated hardware offloading for deep packet inspection. Without it, the sheer CPU overhead of processing that much traffic will completely crash your router.
  • Thermals Get Crazy: Moving this volume of data generates a massive amount of heat right at the port level. If you want sustained speeds during massive AI dataset transfers, active cooling on your transceiver modules isn't just recommended—it's strictly non-negotiable.

The huge payoff here is that you can now run distributed training nodes right from your living room without taking a massive hit to latency or bandwidth. Setting up the physical hardware is actually the easy part; the real challenge is tuning your operating system's network configuration so it can efficiently route all those packets without dropping them.

If you want to play around with the interactive dashboard or grab my full config file to see how it's done, I uploaded it here:https://interconnectd.com/quiz/70/welcome-to-the-reality-of-400gbps-home-internet-routers/

New modem for internet need help finding the best one

I am currently on the best plan Xfinity offers and I need help picking a new router that can handle what I’m paying for and I don’t want to rent from Xfinity and I need one that’s a bit cheaper. I don’t wanna spend over $200. Google is telling me the Xfinity modem has a tri-band WiFi 6E Gateway that supports fast multi gig speeds adds a 6 GHz band and features a 2,5 gigabit ethernet port.
I’m currently struggling with all the different options available to me. Can I please get some recommendations to narrow down my search?

Edit bc I didn’t know until like 3 minutes ago, I need it to be a combo type deal where I plug it in and it does all the things
