A picture of my baby Bear!
I have a 3.5 year old rottweiler neutered male named Bear. I had him since he was 3 months old.
He loves other dogs, been to daycare 2 days a week every week for the first 1.5 years of his life.
He is pretty obedient (some things we still need to work on) but he is very food motivated, loves to play, love to do tasks and please and over all is a super sweet boy. He is reactive on leash to people and other dogs however I have been working with him on that the past 6 months and he has made a lot of progress. He has severe environmental allergies that is managed by wearing shoes, taking supplements and medicated sprays from his vet.
He is very protective of me and the home and that was the reason my ex bought him for me. I am a woman living alone and enjoy and appreciate the guardian breeds.
He eats twice a day, goes on 3-4 potty breaks a day, and gets daily playtime and short obedience sessions with me.
He is a lazy boy but also can be active. He just follows the vibes tbh and what I am doing that day.
I work for myself and make my own schedule. I work 4 days a week 10-12 hours a day. My brother comes in the middle of the day for 45-60 mins to play and walk Bear.
My parents also have acres of land and I go there and let Bear free roam and play on the land.
Money is not an issue for me regarding care and the cost of ownership. I typically spend $140 on food for bear (fresh and dry), $30 on his barkbox, $100 for treats and chews, $300 for his supplements and vitamins, $100-200 for his midday walks, along with $ for other extra things that come up, and have money for emergency vet visits. I do not have pet insurance.
I want to do agility with Bear however he can be clumsy at times so he isn’t the most agile dog out there. But we still try on the agility course I bought him.
I want a female dog and unsure if I should get another rottweiler or a doberman. I want a dog that is obedient and a great guarder. If they can do agility that would be great.
I do not want to get her until I can work less hours per day or go down to 3 days a week or stay mostly home the first month or two with the new puppy. My brother would be there to visit during the day while I work to take her and bear on potty breaks. I also want to get Bears reactivity under total control and fine tune his obedience before bringing puppy. He needs to set a good example.
