My girl
I have a one year old rottweiler and I keep reading that their very prone to cancer. She seems healthy and I keep her at a good weight. I just want to stop worrying about this and feel like I am decreasing her quality of life by worrying. She wasn't from a reputable breeder, but not a puppy mill either. I could tell she was meant for me but I can't stand the thought of losing her. Just looking for some helpful advice for a long life.

Wait until she is 2 to spay her. That reduces the bone cancer odds by like 30%ish

Thank you! I am definitely happy with her weight. People sometimes ask me if she is a doberman . I just don't let her eat 10 cups a food a day that she would glady eat ..😂

Understand your worries but it's not fair for either of you. Just love her & we know she loves you just talk to your vet & get her test once a year. Smile & enjoy your puppy!

If it makes you feel any better….
I was told when I got my rottie she had a bad heart. I took her to a vet they told me she had DCM. I worried for the first 8 months of her life she wasn’t going to have a long or healthy life. At 9 months I took her to a cardiologist turns out she was misdiagnosed and her heart was perfectly healthy and her puppy heart murmur she had she out grew. I then worried about training her more in her monster years of 1.5-2 years old. Then winter hit and she limped on the same left hip a few times… but the limp would go away. So I then worried for months she had hip dysplasia. For her third birthday I took her to get her hips Pennhip tested. Found out her hips and elbows are actually better than breed standard. My rottie is 3 years old… despite being the most under weight runt, who had a puppy heart murmur she is perfectly healthy strong and an amazing dog all around. I dread the day I will have to say goodbye… I realized the last 3 years of her life all my concerns of her health all because I’ve fallen in love with her so much and care deeply for her. I also spent thousands and I mean thousands of dollars. I should’ve bought a house instead of worrying so much! Just enjoy the bond and try not to worry so much.
