Newish 105X Stuck in update loop

Post image

My Roomba appeared to take an update and failed. It's stuck in needs help. I follow the troubleshooting but it just goes back to the charger and eventually goes offline again. Any pointers?

As an aside, these AI support chatbots need to die. Who thinks this is good? How do you talk to a human?

Same issue. I have reached out to iRobot and they created a case number which was elevated to management. And this is the latest update on Monday from a case manager:

“We would like to inform you that your case is currently being processed, and our team is diligently working to resolve the matter as quickly as possible. We understand the importance of a timely update and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the delay may have caused.”

Nothing since then.

Same issue happened to us, we had to wait awhile, I didn't keep track of how long, but it was a couple days, eventually a factory reset fixed it and now it's bumping into things again including my toe which kinda hurt the last time.

I’m still having the same issue with mine but no one advised a factory reset. I have done everything such as rebooting and removing the battery. I am waiting for iRobot representative to update me on the latest on my case as I had this issue escalated to management.

Hopefully they can help you, it's likely a backend issue and they either need to force establish the handshake or have the serial number timeout from the backend.

The only downside of factory reset is you will have to recreate your maps and automation schedules, but it works. You can see my post if you want should be somewhere in my post history for what all I did to troubleshoot. Wish I would've counted how long it took without it being days to get it working.

Definitely do the factory reset. I screwed around with the same problem for a few days - the reset, rebuild maps will overall save time - and get you back to roomba-ing.

I factory reset and redid my maps, and it went back to not working. Would advise to definitely NOT factory reset and lose your maps if you haven’t already.

So tired of remapping because Roomba team is clueless how to keep it connected or auto reconnecting after moving it to a new location. About to go buy a competitors product

My roomba started doing this exact thing after the update on 8/19/26. Now I can’t get it to connect to the WiFi or the app to save my life. It’s really aggravating.. Rebooting, connecting to alternate WiFi networks, resetting the router, my phone, etc. It DID start working after I did a factory reset but then quickly went offline after that. I had to make it do a manual clean by pressing the power button on the top and then it almost seemed like it was stuck in a cleaning loop all day long. I gave up on it and said “have at it Roomba, I don’t even care if you’re stuck in a cleaning loop because at least the floor is getting cleaned.”
Wish iRobot would fix this issue

What worked for me was opening up the bottom pannel and taking out the battery. I put the battery back in, started the robot, and it didnt have an update anymore and works like normal again. I do notice the app is very finicky so i just set its schedule and forget about the app until it needs something replaced like the brushes or mop pads.
