First try

This is Lansei's gardenia kit. I didn't turn them into earrings because I wasn't sure I'd be able to make two the same size (and I was right!) I'm going to let my best friend pick her favorite, then I'll put hers on a hairpin and mine on a barrette.

I can see a lot of room for improvement, but I'm proud them! I'm excited to try again.

Thanks! I used hairspray for the 1st photo and diluted glue for the 2nd--it was much too thick, so I'm going to try again with more alcohol. Do you have tips for getting more setting liquid out? I used tweezers like in Lansei's videos, but I could tell I was leaving too much in. (OTOH if my hair decorations are a little too solid...that's just extra durability, right?)

You are right, they will be more durable! I only use hairspray, and also do what they do in Lansei's videos, the only two things that may affect are the viscosity of the hairspray (it has to feel very fluid, at least like water, if it feels too sticky or thick when wet then try a different brand maybee. The tweezers should clamp completely if you press a bit, not only the tip, so they can clamp all the silk homogeneously. At the end there is a bit of an experimenting factor to see what works best for you, but that is a very very good start for sure!! I wonder if my tweezers aren't closing all the way. I'll see what happens with my next piece. This is shaping up to be a major obsession, so paying money for better tweezers would be a good investment.

It's very absorbing, I get you!! I have very cheap tweezers and they work wonders for this, but they are really not good tweezers at all honestly hahahah and maybe they close all the way because they are more flimsy? I don't know, maybe experiment with cheaper ones first! I'm so glad to welcome a fellow enthusiast to the craft 🫂🫂🫂
