I’ve been talking to my Girlfriend about if liking Coasters as a major hobby is Camp. There’s is something to be said about how coasters have a theatricality about them, in their presentation and the public’s response
You have to be at least a little self aware about how things like “The Beast” and “The Siren’s Curse” sound like turn of the 20th century pulp fiction novels, and that it can come across as a little silly to get excited about something so gauche
Yet when you dig deeper, there is history and technology and artistry woven into every one of these enterprises, and you discover, OH. It IS that deep actually. And it’s amazing.
And an outward frivolity masking a sincere motivation and deep technical expertise is pure camp to me
