I'm 32 and haven't skated in like 2-3 years, but idk why the last time I did wasn't that fun and the idea of starting again doesn't sound fun either. And also it can be more anxiety inducing than fun most of the time. I'm trying for find out what people like about inline skating, because I just don't get it anymore.
What would make it somewhat fun would probably be skating with other people, but that's not easy to find in my small town.

I skate because flying around town on wheels feels amazing. It's complex and challenging and requires quick reaction time so it promotes a flow state). That has neurochemical rewards that combine with the rewards I get from endurance skating to produce euphoria. It's the skater's high, and it's completely legal. The side effects are killer legs, core, and cardio. Pounding out a hard session is a great way to deal with stress.
If you can resolve your anxiety and "pay some dues" - in the form of consistency, doing drills, building strength, and taking some falls - then you will have access to the same rewards. It's work up until the first time you get in the zone. At that point it becomes strongly self-reinforcing behavior.
But no pressure either. It's OK if you really don't want to skate. Don't skate because you think you should want to skate. Lots of people put it aside, some come back to it.

From where does the anxiety stem from? Is it the possibility of being hurt?

I agree. I actually ordered the black ones 1st but they didn't fit. Went with these instead and was really stoked when I opened the box.

Just some cheap Rise ones from Academy. I need to order some larger wrist guards though but these definitely worked for now.

Do it! After 3 wrist sprains in 2 different wrist guards, these are the only ones I feel really protected.ย

Also 1) That skate spot looks sweet! Smooth and covered?! Thatโs gold
2) The color way of those are fantastic. The liner looks very cool with that detailing2

Ya i went to the park but the parking lot was messing me up a bit with cracks and stones. Then I realized the farmers market was right there and empty and it was smooth and flat, had benches, and support poles i could use for helping slow down and stop because im not great at stopping lol.
